How can you give DMC an A- when he played ZERO defense, cussed a teammate out, and was on the losing side of a blowout? I realize the stats were stellar but IMO he shouldn't be higher than a B.

I don't think his defense was that bad. Yeah he had some poor defensive possessions, but those shouldn't define his entire defensive rating. He was doing well in the post. They weren't really able to back him down. I like what I have seen out of Cousins defensively as of late. He isn't biting on many fakes he's simply standing there forcing his matchup to either go through his 270 pound frame or over his 7'6" wingspan. Since he has been more tamed on the defensive side, we have seen his fouls decrease as well.

Yeah, Brick! How can you give DMC an A- when LWP777 doesn't like him! 28/11 doesn't mean anything when you're not teacher's pet, y'know.

:)

Seriously though, DMC has reached a level where 28/11 might mean a "B" grade. Last night was one of those occasions. Any time he gets into it with a teammate, a coach, or an announcer he automatically cannot receive any "A" grade.

You can't be the teams best offensive player and the teams best defensive player. DMC has many nights where his points total looks good but he played and bad offensive game. Last night wasn't one of them. He was an offensive beast last night.

I don't disagree. He was fantastic on the offensive end. However, he played very poor defense, yelled at a teammate, and the Kings were blown out. Hence my grade of "B" for him.

Saying "Pass the effing ball" is not cussing someone out. It's expressing frustration in the vernacular of his peers. You really need to step back and try to be a bit more objective.

I had to vote Jimmer because he has expectations to meet. I doubt anyone thinks Outlaw, Hayes or Garcia will actually score.

Kobe Bryant would never ever ever ever ever ever ever get an A grade performance then.

Kobe has 5 rings, is one of the most clutch/best players in the history of the game a 2x finals MVP and a 14 time all star.

Yeah i don't like him, but you can't deny that man has earned his respect.

Exactly. Right now, DMC does not command respect like a Kobe Bryant does. Sure he's had a great 6 game stretch but that doesn't give him a right to say what he said to Brooks. He needs to learn how to keep his mouth shut for an extended period of time and and off the court. That would be a much more important accomplishment than his current streak of good play.

I'm not trying to make a huge deal about this because it's not. What he said to Brooks is not even close in severity as some of the other altercations he's had over the years. The only point I was trying to make is that I don't think he should get anything higher than a "B" based on that incident, his lack of defense, and the fact the Kings were never competitive this game.

He was mouthing off much earlier in his career. There's a whole lot of talk that goes on in the game - we just don't get it picked up by cameras. I'm not sure how one word that doesn't hurt the team in terms of picking up a technical foul or anything negates a player's performance.

I didn't say it did. My angle from this is about DMC becoming the leader of this team and how he goes about doing it. If he continues playing the way he has in the last week then we're on the right path.

So it was DMC's fault that nobody could keep their guards and wings out of the paint? Fact is if DMC wasn't playing they would have lost by 50.

As a team, I did not think that we played too bad. Yes, we have played better in the recent week. However, this was a respectable game, especially given that it was the 2nd game on a back to back on the east coast.

Also, the Nets played out their backsides tonight. They looked like title contenders. I am not sure that we could have beat them tonight with our best game of the season. At first they were shooting a high percentage because we were giving them lay-ups. But quickly, lay-ups turned into much more difficult shots that were dropping as easily as their lay-ups.

The Nets had it going on - cool roster playing well, awesome new building, sweet looking uni's, etc.

We need to seriously get some more height. We cannot rely solely on Cuz/JT for rebounding, because I puke when I see Hayes in there and his midget self along with the headless rookie PF TRob. I don't understand what Petrie's MO here is...why is it that difficult to go out and grab another big from a team. We got plenty of assets to give up.

thats not petrie's thing. we coulda had drummond but they went with trob. he didn't look big in college and doesn't look big in the pros. in one of his interviews early on, he said his rebounding would translate. i haven't seen any of that.

You sure are stretching for any reason to bash Cousins. He yells "pass the ******* ball" after a screwed up fast break and you are blowing it all out of proportion? REALLY?

I'm not blowing it out of proportion! You people are! I even said in another post that it wasn't that big of a deal. I was just saying I didn't think he deserved an A- grade. He deserved a B. Is that so bad? Am I not allowed to question the Almighty Bricklayer's grades?

If we voted on the issue, would you adhere to the results? :)

its amazing that this is even a topic of debate on here. the guy is playing like a Superstar lately and people wanna criticize him for telling a ball hog teammate to pass the ball? wow

Woah no need to use "you people." Apparently, that offends certain people around here. We don't want to have to get Bricklayer involved...

I was being funny because I was the one who was criticizing Brick for saying "you people!"

I'm not blowing anything out of proportion. You say it's not a big deal yet you think a Kings player putting up some monster numbers and getting some wins along the way should be "docked" for appropriately telling someone to pass the ball? Step back and look in the mirror for a second, will ya?

Well, if you actually took the time to read my posts instead of jumping to conclusions you would have seen that I didn't suggest lowering his grade based solely on him yelling at Brooks. That's only 1/3 of the equation. The other 2/3's is the Kings getting blown out and DMC playing zero defense that game.

Why do you keep saying he played zero defense? I thought his defense was fine. Just because he isn't a flashy defender doesn't mean he plays zero defense. Did he have some boneheaded plays defensively? He sure did, but I also saw him have some very good defensive possessions. He is standing his man up more often than not. When someone is going one on one with him, I rarely see them get around Cousins. They are either taking a jumper or they are in the paint taking a contested close range shot. He is getting much better at not biting on fakes and simply using his size to disrupt his matchup on the defensive end. He seems more disciplined on the defensive end and it will only get better.

Well, I don't know. Maybe because Lopez, Evans, and Blatche combined to go 17-27 from the floor and score 40 points and grab 28 rebounds?
