Evans is good right now. But he won't be a superstar, in my mind, until he learns to take over the game and WIN it for us. Just look at Wade last night... he took over the game. The ball went through him every single time. Wade does it, Kobe does it, Chris Paul does it, Deron Williams does it, Lebron does it, Evans doesn't... yet. He has the ability because you can see flashes throughout the game where it doesn't matter what shot he takes, it goes in. I think thats the only real obstacle he has to face before gaining that superstar status.

The only thing stopping this from happening is a reluctance to defer to him by his team mates when the game is on the line. Do you believe it would help team chemistry / growth if this were the adopted attitude of our gelling young players? I see no real problem with it. Since it rarely happens I can't say whether Evans would make a poor decision in such a situation and turn into Ron Artest V.2.

we lost the game because of a guy named Dwayne Wade, he is pretty good.

The heat went on stretch late that was like the Suns the night before. They hit shot after shot. And when we got close, Wade just took over like a big brother playing in a pick up game against 12 year olds. We didnt play a BAD game, but this team is not good enough yet that it can miss that many free throws and get that little production from the front court and expect to win.

But no matter what, we are sitting here discussing why we didnt win another winnable game. How often were we able to do that last season. Dont expect so much so soon. Remember, this team is still REBUILDING, they aint there yet.

Oh, and all those free throws for Wade didnt help either. half of them were bailouts, but the Jordan rules apply to him now.

I saw some good, and some bad, and some ugly.
Tyreke, wow! He wanted the ball, and he seemed to be the only one other than Beno who could make some shots.
Rodriguez and Beno look like good complementary pieces to Evans - I wonder how Westphal will distribute the minutes when Martin gets back.
Donte looked brilliant and terrible...often at the same time. Kind of like Garcia a few years ago, and he's matured OK (well, we'll see how he looks when he gets back on the court.)
Free throws....seriously? I thought this was a decent shooting FT team, so I'll chalk it up to an off-night. That, and no ability of our big guys to beast up the other team's might midgets contributed towards the loss.

It's extremely hard to do that when your team is down 10-15 points most of the 4th quarter. Actually in many games, I do see Evans take the game over much more late. He also seems to hit shots much more when it counts. He is well on his way to stardom (and quite possibly superstardom).

I think we can say pretty surely what our positional weakness is this year. Last year I think it was at point guard. This year it is at.....center!!

Anyone else notice this... it's becoming a pet peeve of mine when I watch our team.

Situation: PG dribbles up court but for whatever reason stops dribbling beyond the 3 point line and is stuck there waiting to pass...

What Happens: No one comes to bail him out, not one person usually runs towards the PG to give him an easy pass out. Everyone stands in their position waiting for a pass and it allows the other teams to easily telegraph, intercept, steal the pass.

I don't think its a wise plan of action for his teammates. In fact, I think it needs to go the other way. More often than not, when Tyreke goes into I-reke mode he puts up bad shots and makes turnovers. Ty makes less TOs than some rookie PGs, but he makes up for it with many bad shots. Especially at the end of games, he either gets in too deep or settles too easily. So, when I say things need to go the other way, I mean Tyreke needs to have faith in his teammates to pass out to them or give the ball up early in the set in order to get it back later. Right now he starts to ice out others and then Beno/Sergio have to take back control to make the offense work again. Tyreke is not a good enough shooter, not even near to being at this point, to "take over" like has been trying to. He needs to trust others.

Yeah and look where that got him last night. People bricking shots left and right. All this talk about him not trusting his teammates is bull. He is a very willing passer and for the most part his decision making has been above average. For all your talk about Tyreke taking bad shots, he is still shooting near 50 percent in his last 12 games or so.
