Our problems begin with defense. Much is made of our vaunted Princeton offense and it's various permutations but nothing is said of our defensive scheme. Who is in charge of that? Our defense always and I mean ALWAYS sags off their men to the paint and only if the ball moves to the other side of the floor will our guys go back out to guard someone and they are inevitably late for an open shot. Why, if we're playing man defense, do our players continually sag to the paint? I used to think it was the players lack of effort, staying with their men all over the floor, but now I think it must be the scheme we run because even our new guys, who played good D when they arrived, now do the same thing. So, we fall behind in the score which makes RA think he needs scorers on the floor to catch up, leaving the better defensive guys on the bench. Now, if there is little time to make up a deficit I can understand that logic, but he does it throughout the game favoring scorers with no D over lesser scorers with D. A defensive stop not only prevents a score but also is blow psychologically to the unsuccessful and creates easier scoring opportunities in transition which is something we seriously lack this year over years gone by. We also lack leadership and it's the coaches job to lead. RA does not lead.
