And Brand only shot 26%...Thats not exactly manhandling Kenny, or anyone else who was guarding him that night.
Holding Brand to 13 points, which is well below his average, should be commended. And yes, Thomas did help in doing that, as much as some of you want to say otherwise.

ok, look, I'm not a KT hater or an apologist, I've complimented him when he's played well and criticized him when he hasn't. But I think all the people defending KT did not watch this game. Kenny was badly outmatched against the Brand and in no way shape or form played good defense against Brand or kept him off the glass. Brand had 5 or 6 offensive rebounds in the first quarter, when KT was guarding him, 2 the rest of the way. SAR/Corliss/Brad all did a much better job, especially Brad, which is why Brand shot so poorly in the second half, when KT was mostly on the bench.

Seriously people, if you're going to endlessly defend KT at least pick a time when he's actually had a good game.

You had to watch this game -- if you looked at the box score it looked like Salmons was mediocre when he played extremely well. You might think KT did a fine job when he didn't.

Word to the wise:

The KT stuff got old a very long time ago. You could have made the exact same point without attempting to stir the pot with the "as much as some of you want say otherwise" comment.

I strongly suggest you read nbrans post above. He made some good points.

Nothing in my post gave any indication I watched the game! No where in the post did I comment on KT's play in the game! Only presented numbers and asked the question how, it doesn't make sense how Brand had a monster night on the boards with KT on him. No one told you to present a case or rest it. Rule number 9, practice what you preach!
Oh puh-pleeze.

You continually attack long-time Kings fans on this board who dare to criticize Kenny Thomas.

Let's review your latest tome:

You can't win Kup............ The ESPN generation! If your not putting up 30 points or doing a 360 dunk your not playing well. It is impossible to get people to understand there are several aspects to the game that do not show up in the box score. I didn't get a chance to see the game but I find it hard to believe Brand got all his rebounds on KT all the while KT only played 29 minutes. If Kt pulled down 9 reb and Elton 18!!!!!! there are not even enough shots in 29 minutes of basketball! even cut it Brands number in half Brand=9 and KT=9 still not enough shots in 29 minutes assuming either guy got every rebound to be had!
Since when are you in a better position to comment about a game you didn't even see by simply looking at the boxscore? And, pray tell, how can you even begin to defend your position when you made a comment like the one I've bolded. Dude, WE SAW THE GAME. As you yourself said, there are things that don't show up in the box score.

You really need to take off the blinders once in a while. This is a board dedicated to the TEAM by the name of the Sacramento Kings. As we've said about ten thousands times, for us it isn't about the name on the back. It's the name on the front. Yes, we've been rough on Kenny Thomas. I think he can live through it. He has millions and millions of ways to soothe his ego, if it's bruised. What I think is you're way too defensive of your friend because you're too close to the situation.

We're still going to be here as KINGS FANS long after Kenny Thomas has retired and is living a good life off the money he earned from all the fans like us who paid for the tickets to see our Kings play.

Rather than helping KT, you're actually making it tougher on him because people don't react well to being lectured on how they have to feel about a certain player. That's just human nature. Again, we are KINGS FANS. If you look, you'll see a lot of criticism, at time, of most of the other players. It's part and parcel of a sports message board.

First of all, I'm neither a Kenny Thomas hater nor an apologist. And notice I only said Thomas "helped" with Brand. I was only able to watch the fourth quarter so I couldn't comment on Kenny's play, and yes from the boxscores I just figured Thomas had held Brand below his average. Thanks for filling me in. Next time I'll be sure to watch the entire game so I can more accurately judge performances.

It seems like some are so quick to point out flaws of certain players here, while ignoring flaws of others.

If you want to jump to that conclusion, feel free. I think you're wrong. Basically, however, I was pointing out that your post could have been made without the attempt to bait some of our other members.

Have a nice day.

I do not think any of us have done this. In fact, I basically agree with what you wrote in the rest of the post. I think that you may be latent K9 apologist.......don't worry - we will accept and love you here.
i was, of course, being hyperbolic. point being, "kenny apologists" think awfully highly of someone who has been, over the duration of his entire nba career thus far, a very mediocre player. and that's cool. root for whoever you want. it ain't gonna bother me. but no, i am certainly no latent k9 apologist. if you cats wanna accept me and love me, well that's fantastic. i appreciate the gesture. i tend to think of message boards as much more casual than that, so you'll have to excuse me if i don't return the sentiments. ;)

back to kenny thomas, i don't really like the guy very much. i don't call myself a "kenny hater" because i find myself expressing anger much more at the kings front office for acquiring him, rather than for thomas' play. he does the best he can out there, which i can appreciate, but the best kenny thomas has to offer isn't much more than being a decent rebounder on a terrible rebounding squad. i'll give him credit when its due to him, but i'm of the old-school line of thinking that you need a dominant big man to win an nba championship. chris webber, for most of his time with the kings, was a dominant big man. kenny thomas is not a dominant big man, but he is sufficient in the interim, until petrie can find some way to acquire a more suitable replacement to fill the kings starting PF position in a brutal western conference just bursting at the seams with talented big men.

A- (Would have been a straight A if you'd remembered to capitalize Kenny and Thomas.)

Pretty succinct summary of my feelings, too, except when people have to try and make KT more than he is.

Nice sentence.

:)

Ditto.

In a perfect world there wouldnt be KT haters OR apologists...

...Then again thats because in a perfect world we'd have a frontline of Howard and KG :p
