I know a lot of people on here are against small ball but I really think the double PG can work. It's worked great in Phoenix before Bledsoe went down and the Cavs have had there best run of the season playing Jack at PG as a starter and Irving at SG and also last few years in Denver with Lawson and Miller. Ben is not capable at all atm being a SG on either end and Ray is mentally and physically ready to play both positions.

I'm all for doing the double PG thing we got good size at every other position until we have a capable SG.
Double PG works, when you have finishers in front court. Kings have two guys, who like to work with the ball upfront. One or even both guards being somewhat invisible is not a problem. Of course, IT is always visible, when he's on the floor.

Well one glaring difference is that Jimmer would never get to play 30 minutes shooting 1-9 or something along those lines. No wait, Jimmer would never get 30 minutes period.
Obviously that went straight through to the keeper!

Is that a real quote from Isaiah?

He's tied for 7th in the league in technicals! No rep? Think again buddy.

I'm tired of the embarrassment he causes this franchise. Can he really lead this team? We need to think long and hard about moving forward with such an out of control wild card like him. Who wants to follow a guy that can't control his emotions out there?

Just think about the playoffs. We'd be on pins and needles waiting for the blowup. Waiting for the embarrassment, the shame.

Just not worth it.

A question that has been rearing its head probably has to be asked at this point. Is Ray doing to Ben what Isaiah did to Jimmer (i.e. outplay his more recognisable rookie team mate)?

In a handful of games where has received meaningful minutes, Ray McCallum has shown more than Ben McLemore has for the entire season.

No. If Ray continues like this, though, he could do to McLemore what IT did to Tyreke.

It's nice to see a guy in McCallum who can receive the ball for an outside and make an open shot without dribbling three or four times.. Thornton couldn't do that. McLemore doesn't dribble a lot, but he can't make the shot (yet). McCallum now appears to be our two guard until he plays himself out of the position or McLemore's switch turns on. He also looks to be adequate at backup pg. I'm looking forward to see how he plays for the rest of this road trip.

Not a chance in my view. Unless $ is the only consideration. There is nothing special about Ray. Not his quickness, not his creative shot ability, not his ability to break down the defense, not his passing. He's vanilla. He's got a looooong ways to go before he's a starting point guard.

Ray has a long way to go to reach Thomas' scoring ability or level of creativity, where you're comfortable putting him in the starting lineup for any team, but as a utility guard, who defers to more talented teammates, finds them in good spots, shoots, when open, and defends, he might become dependable pretty soon, just like Beverley put Lin on the bench after some time.

Isn't Ray doing well these last several games. Real encouraging.

And we've won two in a row while has played beau coup minutes. He's not the cause of these wins but it's a great combo to play well AND win. Just 20 more like that and the season will be over.

Whether or not double pg works depends on a couple different factors. Who are the two pg's? Who else is on the team?

But he's certainly head and shoulders above IT on the other half of the court, and having another role player in the starting five certainly wouldn't be a bad thing. There's more to it then scoring, especially if you already have Cousins and Gay.

IT is simply a passionate player. Even when our season is pretty much over and he is playing in a game that has already been decided, he remains passionate about the game. Yeah, he was ejected for arguing, but I would rather have a team leader like him who remains passionate all the through rather than someone who is lackadaisacal.

This team needs the firy leadership that IT provides.

I kinda look at IT/Ray in the same way I saw JWill/Bibby. Not saying that Ray will supplant IT or that Bibby was decent at defense; just in style of play, etc.

You know, I've seen a bit of Bibby in Ray as well. The assists aren't quite there yet (though Bibby was never a spectacular facilitator), but Ray's defense is already better than what Bibby brought.

....

Fandom is a fascinating thing. It's remarkable how two people can look at the same player, and see him so totally differently. Unless of course, this was satire, in which case, (Y).

I think the guard that changes things for the Kings is not on the team yet. I want an all around 2 guard that can defend, handle the ball and shoot the J pretty well. Either that or a bigger PG who can defend the SG's around the league and shoot the J. I'm OK giving Ben time to develop as long as its bench minutes starting next season unless he breaks out in the next 20 games. Ray looks like a pretty good PG/Utility guard for now. Unlike some I see something special in Ray. He looks like he belongs in the NBA. IT has impressed and is a very good scoring player with a lot of heart. He can be the best 6th man in the NBA if he will accept that role and the associated paycheck.

The guard I want to see the Kings obtain is at the level of Klay Thompson or Rondo.

Hoping the tongue and cheek is not lost on anyone regarding IT. And I'm almost certain you had to look up how to SPELL Antetokounmpo.... Let alone pronounce it!!

I thought it was an all around professional game against an inferior club. Milwaukee is a steaming hot mess. No reason to lay an egg against this team. They went out and despite a few rough patches took care of business. I REALLY like the way that RayMac is starting to round into form. Perhaps the reason the team did not sign or trade for a point is that they believed they already have a point on the roster??? Granted it was against the Bucko's, but that is 2 games in a row that Ray has looked the part of NBA caliber point.

BenMac on the other hand continues to disappoint. Not seeing the kind of growth you want to see in a player that one is expecting to be a difference making player. It may soon be time to reevaluate the ceiling for Ben. Not giving up on him yet but there is certainly a lot of questions regarding his growth this season. At times it looks like he is regressing not progressing. Sometimes he looks like he is just about to break out. Most disconcerting is his shooting which was supposed to be one of his strengths. He has not shown a consistent jumper or gone on a hot streak all year. Unless you count 2 in a row as a hot streak? And he has not had many of those either. His ball handling skills are seriously holding him back at this point. But he is still VERY young. He would be a Soph in college this year. I am really hoping he has a monumental leap in his game before the end of the season so we don't have to go into the off season with question marks on the 2 guard position.

Cousins is playing with the temperament and skill he should have started his career with. Calm and cool assassin. Rarely does the other team have a one on one answer for Big Cuz. He has been methodical and effective in the last few games since his suspension. I am hoping his agent finally got thru to him that he just needs to shaddup and play ball. Let the coach worry about fouls. Refs are just another uncontrollable factor in a game. Play ball and let the chips fall where they will. If he continues to play this way the Kings are going to be fine going forward at the center position.

Really like the way Malone is incorporating the young player into the mix and getting them plenty of playing time. There is no push for a playoff spot this season. Too much change and not enough continuity with this group yet. I'd like to see Malone have this group with a few more ancillary pieces throughout an entire training camp and see what we have then. They have the offense to score with anyone. Now will they bring the D ??

Not to be one of those guys but if we're going to get on Cuz's ass about him getting ejected in a frustrating loss, we are certainly allowed to get on IT for getting ejected at the end of a game against the worst team in the league when the game wasn't really all that close or exciting.

Whoa whoa whoa people. Whoa horsey! :p

Obviously I am not talking skill level. More in the fact that IT is the high-energy guy that tries to break ankles and Ray is the steadier, more well-rounded player. Just a juxtaposition of style is all.

Gay ( A- ) -- actually struggled to establish his own offense in this one, but I thought his early response was a key to getting us off to a good start. Made a number of excellent early passes setting up JT, Ben, adding an alley oop to Cousins. And it just set a tone despite him sitting down for the first time with only 2pts. retunred int eh second looking more for his own offense. Fortunately he was hot tonight, because I actually rather preferred his early work. When he came back he forced some tough shots, sort of willing his way into a groove but often ignoring teammates while he did, and capped things with a turnover dribbling into traffic to close the half. In the third you got a little of both world's as he began to pour it on with across the board contributions. Began the third with another assist to Isaiah...that somehow the scorers did not count as an assist. But he wasn't back into first quarter mode, was still offensively aggressive, and a few minutes later dribbled right into a double team while ignoring Cuz and basically forced a turnover just by stubbornness. Most of his turnovers this game were that way. So very next possession he makes amends on the break with a nice pass to Cuz for a dunk. He and JT were all over the glass at this point as well, and he closed the 3rd with a flourish, first running the 1-4 flat at the end of the third and hitting it, and then racing downcourt fullcourt to beat the buzzer with another swooping shot. there were fluxuations in this, the forcing and resulting turnovers were not perfect. But he hit a lot of those forces, got us off to a great start with the early passing, and filled up all corners of the statsheet while dominating his matchup. Not a perfect game, but a very good one. --Brick

Holy moly!!! I knew Gay had the reputation of being a chucker, but 116 shots in a game is where I draw the line. Cut him immediately!! :p

IT is trying to break ankles now?

Will the thuggery ever stop?!

Still...... it's amazing his arm didn't fall off. That's an amazing physical achievement in itself.

Very interesting. I wonder why coaches tell their players to take 250-500 shots a day in practice if it's sooo taxing. Those players must be Spartans!!! :p
