Not sure I agree with everything said here, but still, this is amusing. We've had more articles written about us in 3 weeks than we have had in the last 8 years, somebody trying to steal the team excepted of course.

P.S. article closes with a piece of foul language that may shock, shock I tell you, young and innocent eyes and ears, because of course this is GQ and to be hip and edgy they have to randomly cuss every once in a while. You should try it at Thanksgiving, it works. Just tell Granny, "hey, pass me the ****ing stuffing!" and the rest of the family will know you're cool and with it. Really. Give it a go.

I was mortified.

...Except Cousins hasn't exactly lost his attitude. When you watch Cousins play, there's still the same swagger, the same unbridled emotion, the same volatility. Only now, he's harnessed it, using his powers for good rather than evil. What was once a distraction has become his edge, an intangible that separates him from, say, Dwight Howard. The Zach Randolph comparison again seems relevant; it's also worth considering Rasheed Wallace or even Charles Barkley as a point of reference. Cousins is exciting to watch because he plays with feeling; he's unpredictable and at times, ecstatic. When he decides to take over a game or clinch a win, it's as much a matter of will as it is ability. Like Russell Westbrook, he spurs his team to greater heights by wearing his emotions on his sleeve; there's a range there that somehow seems more honest, or authentic, than more guarded, less expressive players...

That, in and of itself, is worth the price of admission for the article. It's been a long time coming, but it is incredibly good to see. :)

"the enfant terrible".....

I've never heard much of anything in his "private" life that has been an issue. He shows up to work every day, he looks passionate as hell to me, so I'd expect the lethargic work on his game to be an over reaction too.

And I've said for years, you can't teach passion or fire, you either have it or you don't.

And for a big man, I'll take a tough speak his mind type 100 times over a polite fella.

He's sort of two decades behind sometimes, a mans man, and I'm very thankful he is here and always have been.

Brick I remember that write up you did, showing how effective he had been but was not an Allstar, and people justified it for a variety of weak reasons. Now it is looking like the bandwagon may be coming to town.

And that's the thing that always gets me.

Demarcus is always portrayed as a malcontent despite seemingly being completely harmless off the court.

Meanwhile, Dwight Howard is facing potential child abuse charges that have been largely swept under the rug by the sports media because he's seen as the NBA's favorite teddy bear and golden boy Blake Griffin was literally charged two weeks ago for slapping a guy in Las Vegas but no one cares about that because Blake can (sorta) jump over Kias.

And one other aspect/angle:

If Sacramento turns this franchise around and DMC becomes an NBA superstar, he will be one of the few (only?) modern superstars who chose to stay with his embattled smalltown franchises, eschewing the big markets and the easy teaming up with other stars to form "The Big Three".

Who else of Boogie's talents would have stayed here and slogged it out?

Bad guy and malcontent Demarcus Cousins.

I don't recall his work ethic ever being an issue, rather his ability to accept criticism. Regardless, I've stated before on this forum, he appears to have that rare combination of intelligence and good intentions, so his eventual maturation was never in doubt for me.
