I had 26,574 points after the sixth level, but needed 30,000 to continue.

:(

Accuracy is difficult on that little map, but... at least I always hit the right country.

yeah, i think it would've been nice to have it bigger. but i've learned that getting the right country is pretty good to get you through. best i've had was level 11, at about 8K shy of level 12.

Ha.. That's from playing whenever I wanted to kill a few minutes almost every weekday for a month. It tends to use the same places over and over, so you learn quickly.

[In grizzly old voice]

Ah gots people needs killin'. Gots me somethin' fer that?

Apparently, my map reading skills aren't as much of a problem as my score reading skills -- 26,574 was my score in level six, not after level six.

Level five, however, remains my limit. My most recent score is 185,302, and that seems to be pretty consistent. The ticking clock freaks me out too much.

Got to level 6 and then didn't know where Malta is.

I have always been huge, like really huge, on geography since I was very little, so this test was extremely easy until the 6th level where I missed going on by 2000 pts :(

Gonna try again later.

Heh -- died at level 10 (of 12), needed 50,000pts, only came up with 39,648 -- missed one place by 14,000miles, which is basically as bad as you can do it on a round globe. :p

Oh well, back to proving I am culturally illiterate. :p

That's funny...I did the same thing...

:o

Oh -- didn't even realize there was an overall score -- 369,023.

Don't know if I will bother trying it a second time but it occurs to me that with just a little practice you should be able to at least get to Rnd 12.

Ok, beat level 10. Level 11 depends on one's knowledge of comlpetely random Russian and Canadian cities. Damn.

I pretty easily hit around 250,000 or so, but some of those little countries it kicks up I am just not familiar with....

Just tried it again and got 310,000. Probably the luck of the draw on some of these, obviously.

ummmm yeaaaaaaaaaah....I'm blaming a lot of things for my score on the geography deal...

I also missed perhaps the same place everybody else did by 14,000 miles lol...but I sure as hell know exactly where Tokyo and Copenhagen are apparently...

Otay -- well after some heavy slogging, I finally went through and wrapped up the last of the cultural literacy quizzes that originally started this thread (and unlike certain people, I did not pick and choose just the ones that would make me look good :p). Maybe not absolutely the best I could do everywhere if I was treating it like the LSATs, but still broadly indicative:

(number right, number right on second guess, number completely wrong)

The Good:
American History I: 88% (22, 2, 1)
American History II: 88% (22, 2, 1)
Civics I: 92% (23, 2, 0)
Civics I: 96% (24, 1, 0)
Geography I: 92% (23, 2, 0)
Geography I: 96% (24, 1, 0)
Life Sciences I: 92% (23, 2, 0)
Life Sciences II: 84% (21, 1, 3)
Math & Economics I: 96% (24, 1, 0)
Math & Economics II: 92% (23, 1, 1)
Myth and Religion I: 88% (22, 1, 2)
Myth and Religion II: 96% (24, 1, 0)
Quotes & Phrases I: 92% (23, 2, 0)
Quotes & Phrases II: 96% (24, 0, 1)
Technology I: 88% (22, 3, 0)
Technology II: 84% (21, 2, 2)
World History I: 96% (24, 1, 0)
World History II: 88% (23, 3, 0)

The Ok:
Physical Science I: 80% (20, 3, 2)
Physical Science II: 84% (21, 3, 1)
Music I: 68% (17, 5, 3)
Music II: 72% (18, 5, 2)
Art and Architecture I: 76% (19, 4, 2)
Art and Architecture II: 80% (20, 3, 2)

The Me Ignant:
American Literature I: 64% (16, 4, 5)
American Literature II: 48% (12, 4, 9)
Famous Authors: 60% (12, 5, 3)
World Literature I: 56% (14, 3, 8)
World Literature II: 68% (17, 5, 3)

So, you want to talk about history, or geography, or economics (started out an econ major), or gods and myths (modern or ancient), or Civics (poly sci major/law school) etc., I'm game (bit rusty on the sciences though). If you want to talk music or art or some such...well, I will probably at least know what you are talking about, even if I can add little. If you want to talk about my studied ignorance of pompous literature and playwrights...sowwy, me ignant. :o

Okay, smartass...

American History I: 92% (23, 2, 0)
American History II: 84% (21, 2, 2)
Civics I: 88% (22, 2, 1)
Civics II: 76% (19, 6, 0)
Math & Economics I: 92% (23, 1, 1)
Math & Economics II: 80% (20, 4, 1)
Myth & Religion I: 100% (25, 0, 0)
Myth & Religion II: 100% (25, 0, 0)
Physical Science I: 88% (22, 3, 0)
Physical Science II: 76% (19, 4, 2)

I also took all the quizzes for World History and World Literature, but... the highest score of the four was 62% and I just can't make myself post the others. The perfect scores on both Myth & Religion tests surprised me, and I'm almost certain it's tied to my Art History major -- most of the questions were also famous artistic iconography.

So, when combined with my previous scores, I'm pretty damn culturally literate... as long as you ignore those four ugly ones.

Art & Architecture I: 100%
Art & Architecture II: 92%
Music I: 88%
Music II: 92%
Famous Authors: 90%
Geography I: 100%
Geography II:92%
American Literature I: 88%
American Literature II: 88%
Life Science I: 96%
Life Science II: 100%
Quotes & Phrases I: 100%
Quotes & Phrases II: 100%
Technology I: 92%
Technology II: 84%

This would suggest I need to read more... a suggestion I look forward to ignoring.

Some really disparate results within the same categories... I'm sure that's just my brain going crazy. To fix it, I'm going camping for the weekend... yay!
~~

What does myth/religion entail? Everyone seems to be knocking it out of the park; I'd only score high if it's greek mythology.

But I'm not gonna try on the blackberry just yet. Happy 4th everyone!

eh..not sure why I'm fixated on this geography game but I finally made it to a new level, and my best score 257K...which earned me a new level of world capitals...yikes...:)
