Goldman Sachs agrees to advise arena task force

Goldman Sachs may not be a popular decision, but, generally speaking, you don't really want most government employees doing the financial feasibility analysis, especially on such a niche project. Neither the city nor county has ever built an arena or sports venue.

Of course, there would be the issue of bias or conflict of interest in any analyses prepared by the city. An independent third party needed to be chosen. Still, they will be working for the city on this job, so such a third party is still inclined to be swayed by what the client wants the outcome to be.;)

These greedy guys better not mess this up or I'll be infinitely angry. They were involved in a lot of shady business over the last few years.

Goldman Sachs isn't participating in the deal. All they are doing is a one-shot financial feasibility analysis of the submitted proposal. I'm sure they are doing it under some kind of contract that specifies the fee they will get and for what services. Hard for them to get too greedy. And I would still bet my money that they have experienced people who can do the type of analysis this sort of specialized project requires. The city has to contract with someone to do the work.

This was KJ's big announcement? Huh.

I really don't think that this is anything the public needed to know.

My initial reaction: So what?
