Gerald Wallace Appreciation/Progress

Prospect
I noticed that we already had a Gerald Wallace thread, but that seems to have become a discussion on Anthony Peeler / Darius Songalia vs Wallace (at the time) and on the expansion draft.

I wanted to post/discuss Gerald's progress and where folks think he's going to go from here.

He's finally being noticed around the league, and his numbers this season are just absurd. After getting over some nagging injuries from the first half of the season, GW has been on an absolute tear ever since he got back on the court.

His numbers from the 40 games since his return:

Shooting
21.7 points per game on

- 49.1% shooting
- 39.2% 3-point shooting

-
69.1% FT shooting

Rebounding
8.5 rebounds per game (2.4 offensive)

Everything else
2.1 steals per game
1.2 blocks per game
3.3 assists per game

He's also been on quite a roll the past few games.

Stats from last 4 games
30 points per game
61% FG shooting
45% 3-pt shooting
11 rebounds per game
4 steals per game

Are we looking at a potential all-star?

That probably depends on whether or not Charlotte ever has a winning record at the All-Star break; contrary to popular opinion, there are a lot of talented forwards in the eastern conference, too. Wallace isn't just going to break in against the likes of Bosh, James, Carter, Butler, Pierce and Jermaine O'Neal unless the Bobcats, as a team, are playing very well.

I shall be keeping an eye on this; I'm probably the most notorious Gerald Wallace fan on this board, and I find myself asking why this merits its own thread...

Gerald Wallace was just announced as the Player of the Week for the Eastern Conference.

Here is an excerpt from the article on NBA.com:

"Wallace averaged 30.0 points on .610 shooting to go along with 10.8 rebounds, 4.0 steals and 3.0 assists in leading Charlotte to a 3-1 week. He had four games with three or more steals. Wallace ranks fifth in the NBA with 1.97 steals and has recorded 10 games this season with 30 or more points."
