right this is going to seem really bad but what is actually happening for the next few days... we have been building p for this meeting but how long is it??? and when do we know if the team is allowed to move?

Now, for your answer:
Both Seattle and Sacramento will make their presentations to the joint committee tomorrow. It is not a public meeting. We don't know how long the presentations will be or how many questions the committee members will have for each of the presenters.
Sam Amick has an excellent article on this that is well worth reading.
As far as when we'll know, the BoG isn't scheduled to vote on the issue until their meeting of April 18-19. I'm pretty sure there might be rumors and indications, but there might well be no official decision until that meeting is over.
We've lasted this long. We just have to hang on a little longer.
Q: What about the idea that, if the NBA decides to not approve the Seattle deal, that the Maloofs could take a step back and hold onto the team – maybe re-start a bidding war – rather than immediately sell to your group?
A: "Nah, I think the horse is out the barn. I'm not concerned about that."
^-- This, I like. KJ's nonchalant response to the question makes me think that he's already addressed that potential scenario and knows it's not really going to be an option for the Clowns.
That's optimistic and I sure hope it's right, but bottom line is that the BoG might not reach a final decision until the two-day meeting on April 18-19. Don't be surprised if it takes that long, although I would love to see something by next week.

Through a source I have obtained a draft of George's planned remarks to the BOG. Because of it's long and rambling nature I've chosen simply to post the excerpt that deals with why he feels Sacramento is a terrible market.
"Sure, my brothers and I may have run Rick Adelman out of town and subsequently hired an impressive string of mediocre coaches at the same time we heavily curtailed our roster spending, but we never stopped trying to make the customer experience as good as it could possibly be. Here's just a short list of attempts we made to reach out to Kings fans to show them why they should support our franchise:
1. We introduced the gold uniforms which are universally regarded as forward thinking and fashionable.
2. We created the giant "6" statue as a considerate way of letting fans know exactly how many different cities we'd try to secretely relocate to
3. We let the team store stay down for over a month so that fans could save their money during these tough economic times
4. We allowed fans to keep debris that fell from the rafters as a memento of their trip to Sleep Train Arena.
5. We showed that we love all NBA fans equally by allowing Laker fans to sit in our seats at the end of last season
6. We forced Keith Smart to reinstate DeMarcus from his suspension to show all the children of Sacramento that with enough talent or money you don't have to be responsible for your actions
7. We raised the mayor's hand at halfcourt after the arena framework was laid out just so he wouldn't feel embarrassed even though we planned to back out.
8. We offered instead to look at renovating Sleep Train Arena because we know how much our fans cherish it.
9. Most importantly we've saved the city several times from a costly arena construction because we knew it was a bad deal for Sacramento.
And for all of this, WE are being painted as villains. So now I ask you, how could any franchise thrive in such a disloyal, toxic environment as Sacramento"

I would think the league would want to avoid a scene at the end of the season where commentators are crying, and we are playing farewell music, only to find out the team stays. So my guess is that there will be leaks about what is going to happen prior to the April 18 meetings, if not a full press conference.
I agree totally. I just don't want folks to jump off conclusion cliff into suicide pond if the final result isn't known before the April 18-19 meetings.
Tomorrow is the presentation to the combined relocation/finance committees. Representatives from both Seattle and Sacramento will have up to 1.5 hours to make their presentations. The committee members will ask questions if they have any. I don't think the representatives of Seattle will be there when Sacramento speaks and vice versa but I'm not sure.
After that, the joint committees will formulate their recommendations to the BoG, as requested and directed by David Stern. Although everyone is hoping there will be leaks, etc. that can predict their recommendations, those recommendations will not be made public. At the regular NBA Board of Governors' meeting on April 18-19, the issue of allowing the team to relocate to Seattle will be voted upon, as will the issue of allowing the Maloofs to sell the team to the Seattle group headed by Hansen. There is no official information on which vote will be taken first, if they will be taken concurrently, etc.
It's widely assumed that if the relocation to Seattle is not approved, the Hansen group will withdraw their offer to buy the team. If that happens, it is also fairly widely believed that the NBA would then direct the Maloofs to accept the Sacramento offer.
A lot of this is assumption for the simple reason these are internal dealings of a private entity, the National Basketball Association, and they are under no obligation to make their meetings, etc. public.
We've in the home stretch. Some very knowledgeable people seem to believe that the grassroots support of the Kings can make all the difference. That's why we're encouraging ALL Kings to participate in any and all upcoming activities. See the "Call to Kings fans!" thread for more specifics.

It would have been awesome for guys like Mitch, Webb, Shaq, Barkley and all the others that have been public about supporting the team to show up in NY for support. They don;t have to speak, but them just showing up could show that basketball personalities (ex players) want the Kings in Sac.
Also, it would be nice to see Aaron Rodgers there.
