Look, I'm as excited as anyone that maybe - just maybe we finally have a veteran, proven coach like many of us have been begging for for years to head this team, but -
George Karl is not a wizard.
He can't simply wave a magic wand and turn Omri from a bumbling scrub who can't dribble the basketball into a wizened assassin on the floor. He can't force the team to want to play with effort and want to win.
Many of these players did not want to win or play hard for Ty Corbin. When they wanted to win under Malone, the team was a serious threat in the league - now, they may be again simply because they WANT to play well now.
This first win was about the players more than the coach.
The only personnel difference was Andre Miller, who actually SHOULD be credited to George Karl, not PDA who most people are actually thanking for that.
Ironically, Karl's biggest contribution so far was having Miller come here for him. And make no doubt, there's no way PDA makes that trade without Karl on the sidelines. Perfect example of how a coach can contribute to veterans coming here.
