George Hill Trade?

There was a lot of talk about the Pacers might need to shuffle the roster after losing to the Heat. Any interest? Package with Hill and Stephenson?

Stephenson is an UFA.

Not a player I like personally. People say demarcus has baggage. This guy is something else. A clown.

Stephensen is a FA and so can't just be thrown in into a deal, not that the Pacers would just give away their entire backcourt anyway. Probably a good thing, as Lance would either combine with Cuz to make us the edgiest team in the league, or make us a new Jailblazers team prone to losing our heads and melting down at all the wrong times. Difference between him and Cuz is I'm not at all sure he's a righteous man.

As for Hill...if he's available, what Hill would be would be another variety of the Mario Chalmers theory. And specifically, what HIll would could end up being is the guy you get back from Indiana in a sign and trade of Isaiah Thomas, if they decide they need a second scorer there. He brings it up, plays defense, hits a three. He's all you need with Cuz. However he can't help Ben, and if we remained committed there that's an ongoing issue. If you can't dribble, you need teammates to make you better. Its like Peja, take away his Vlade and watch his efficiency plummet. The other thing with Hill is he's considerably overpaid at $8mil a season. He's that 3 and D PG fit, Chalmers, younger Fisher (who didn't even have the D). But he has a contract of a real player. You might in the end end up blinking were they really to offer a similar deal to IT, and end up matching it rather than taking back half the stats at the same $$ figure.

No thanks on Lance.

Yes, that was four years ago. Still, you see that madness in his on-court antics. Boogie runs hot; Lance runs wild.

Hill I think is a better player than his time in Indiana would show. Vogel's offensive schemes (to the extent they exist) are stagnant as hell and turn Hill into a spot-up shooter. He is most effective attacking off the dribble. When he attacks, he has good touch at the rim, is more athletically explosive than you would expect, and can find the open man very well. I would take him over Chalmers 10 times out of 10. The caveat being that Malone doesn't appear to be any more offensively apt than Vogel. Malone just has better offensive talent at his disposal.

8mil per year makes Landry's contract look decent, Hill's best quality in his defence which has gone to crap he got torched by a guy who makes the same amount in Jeff Teague and impacts the game 100 times more than Hill and could not ouptlay Chalmers or Norris Cole.....no thank you. Paul George often had to be switched on Wall/Teague to allow the Pacers to compete in the first two rounds.

You don't make a trade with the Spurs in this era and ever win, Spurs knew what they were doing getting rid of the currently overpaid Hill.
