You're forgetting one thing - about as many as 30 players could be available for cheap after the "waive" clause goes into effect - including Brian Grant, Michael Finley, Allan Houston, etc etc. Who knows what possibilities are there? He might be counting on this movement.

I don't think you Kings fans realize how difficult it is to swing a deal in the NBA. Even Jerry West had his down time. Plus, the Kings really don't have many players anymore that other teams would be interested in. Peja might be your best candidate but Petrie is scared to pull the trigger. Kings are going to stay put, not by choice but by choice of other teams.

What do you suggest? I think we should have gotten better deal for Webb, and not just moved him for the sake of moving him, now we are stuck... I agree with you our options are limited, but our 4 has to have speed and some length, offense is not important. As for the money issue, the guys we got were supposed to add "Flexibilty" so we could move them for someone like we are talking about, Thomas doesn't exactly have a small contract either does Corliss, thats where the money has to come from, thru a trade. Too bad no one wants them huh?

yeah, that's looking like a minor problem right now. the off season isn't nearly over, but, boy, I keep hoping that something is going to happen to convince me that GP hasn't changed from the miracle worker I thought he was into a mere fallible human like the rest of us....

Maybe all the Kings and Lakers fans can go to the playoffs to watch the Warriors and Clippers duke it out...hey, it's more likely than a Kings-Lakers series at this point.

Lakers won't make the playoffs with their starting 4/5. Lakers need to get a point-guard like Brevin Knight or someone too. Watson's not a playmaker.

Clippers aren't as strong with Simmons definitely signing with the Bucks.

Kings will be a stronger team than both when both PF and SG spots are filled with new faces.

I definitely agree with you on the Warriors though. I've thought ever since their late-season run there, along with the off-season, they'll be a strong team next year. Too many fowards though, that could cause some madness.

What I will remind people of is this: The Webber deal was made for flexibility, I don't think there is anyone that things it was made to make this team better. It wasn't made to cut salary, because the contracts we got back equal to be the same money for the same length for less talent. The only reasons the Webber trade makes ANY sense, is that we package one, some, or all of the pieces we got with some of what we have to upgrade our talent, get some cap space to rebuild, or get some draft picks to rebuild.

IF we go into next season with Brian Skinner, Kenny Thomas, and Corliss Williamson on our team, then GP has decidedly fallen off the wagon for giving up CWebb for nothing. Say what you will about the risk of CWebb for a long term deal, but Id take the 10% chance his knee improves with time and work, or even the 30% chance it stays the same and you get a great passing 4 who plays aweful D, over the mediocrity we're assured with the pieces we now have in place.

On the East three...I think Thomas will be gone, as will Corliss, Skinner is the one I think is the least likely to go.

That...or we got 3 productive players in the deal! I swear people think that all these guys are, are contracts. K9 may have a questionable deal but he is a very good player.
