Gasol unhappy in Memphis

Well, Gasol would be a step towards a ring, even if it's not THE step. But I can't see Memphis trading Gasol for Bibby. Bibby is the type of guy Memphis would want to pair WITH Gasol, not exchange. Plus Memphis could just sign Bibby in the offseason with their cap room (probably the most likely non-Sacramento destination for Bibby, really).

Anyway, nothing's happeing with Gasol until the ownership situation is resolved, so it's a moot point for a while.

Yeah, I saw that.

But I thought it was at least something to discuss on a dead day.

I'm not a fan of Gasol anyway. And I can't see the Grizz giving him to us instead of an Eastern team.

Yeah, just kidding. But for sake of arguement. I would go for a Bibby / Gasol trade.

Salmons, Martin, Artest, Gasol, Miller

I like that lineup but Memphis will never go for it.

A point guard. Expiring contracts(Bibby can be one, Williamson, Hart, etc). Picks, young players, and they'll be looking to dump their bad contract of B-Cardinal who Muss has coached before. We could make a good offer IMO.

I'd rather have Pau, but getting a bottom half of the top 10 PF by trading awaya a bottom half of the Top 10 PG isn't likely to result in any great magical leaps forward unless you find a pretty seriosu plug for the new hole that you just opened up.

A top 10 PF is a much bigger deal than top 10 PG...why do you not understand that?

Magical steps forward no....but a step in the right direction IMHO. In my estimate, it is always more difficult to find 'worthy' big men than it is 'worthy' small guys.

It worth be well worth the try anyway.

I don't really see the point in discussing trades for a guy who said he wants to play for a team that can win a championship. Every guy in the league is going to say that at some point (unless they're lucky enough to be Dwayne Wade or Tony Parker). "Hey Jerry West, Pau Gasol wants a championship. You want him happy don't you? Say, what do you know, we want to win a championship too! It's a perfect fit! We'll give you Corliss Williamson." When Jerry West announces he's ready to trade Gasol, that's when you talk about it. Because other than that, it's just pointless daydreaming. People have been talking about KG supposedly being unhappy for five years. Far better to spend that time by talking about guys who might actually be available.

Did you guys miss the "team competing for a ring" part?

Well I am sure the idea would be that the Kings are much, much, much closer to the Grizz in making a championship run and have more pieces.

Who are the teams competing for a ring? Like 3 or 4 teams that wouldn't be looking to make a trade anyway. We are playing in the middle of pack just like most other teams.

Oh, waaaaaaaaaaaaah.

He wants to be on a team competing for a ring? Wow. I know all the other guys on the team aren't interested in championships or anything.

They are interested but they know that is not expected of them.

They are doing what some suggest we do, rebuild. That combined with the fact that the new owners want to cut cost, Jerry West is leaving, and the franchise has the goal to "bring hope, youth, excitement, and a renewal of wacky delusions of grandeur." by entering sucksville.

If you are going to that you most likely have to cut loose of your current franchise player.

Exactly how I feel. Good grief. Who playing in the NBA doesn't want to play for a team with a shot at a ring?

This is a little like saying that a dog is closer to human intellect than a goldfish.

I burns my biscuit when players ***** about wanting to play for a championship team... The owner of the Grizzlies should trade him to Charlotte, just to spite him.

EDIT - On second thought, I like Charlotte; trade him to Portland.
