The Kings are looking really well right now against the Jazz, I personally think Rudy Gobert is pretty much overrated, the hype around him is too much, too exaggerated the way I see it, although he is a pretty decent defender.

What, exactly, do you think that the "hype" is based on? What is it that you think he's hyped as?

I think the Jazz are really going to their bench. This is the type of game where I wouldn't mind seeing Bhullar play 10-15 mins.

Between Exum and Burke and McLemore and Nik, both teams have not done all that great at drafting guards over the past two seasons.

He was made by the media to one of the best defenders in the league, media talks about him like if he is a NBA star in his prime, which he is clearly not.
He is a good defender, but not at the level that the media purports to show us, he is a decent shot blocker thanks to his unbelievable length, but there is nothing more than that, he is very limited on offense to my likely.

I don't think anyone is hyping him as more than a Deandre Jordan type. Physically he's a freak and seems to have a decent understanding of the game on the defensive end already. You will never throw the ball to him in the post, but diving off pick and rolls will get him a ton of dunks as his career unfolds.

First of All™, nobody but nobody has said that Gobert was any good on offense, not even the Utah commentators. Second of all, exactly how good do you think the average defender is in the NBA? Who are all these super-elite defenders that you're looking at, that you look at Gobert and say, "Eh, he's aiight"?

And which team is doing the tanking? Utah has no incentive to lose: they can't improve their lottery position, anyway.

The Jazz have 35 wins, tied for 10/11/12 in the lottery with Indiana and Miami and only 2 games ahead of #9 Charlotte. The swing between 9 and 12 is not insignificant. I'm not saying they're tanking, I'm just saying the Jazz certainly could have incentive to lose if their FO were inclined that way.

They're not tied in the loss column. And, doing some schedule forecasting, I'm going to say it again: they have neither any incentive nor need to tank.

You know what's nice? BK, we wouldn't have stood a chance in this game. The Kings would have been DOA and would have spent most of their time running around like chickens without heads.

What I'm seeing - for the most part - if effort. Yeah, there are still some bonehead plays but there's also accountability. As I'm writing this, George Karl is apoplectic on the sidelines over a lack of defensive effort. And, unlike his predecessor, Karl will make sure the team knows exactly what they did wrong.

In all fairness to Ty Corbin, I don't think the team would have listen to him even if he did know how to fix the team.

so many turnovers, so many three point shooter left wide open. what a crap team, like most have said, I expect more than half this team to be gone by next season

As soon as you wrote this, Landry decided it was time to step up and lead the tank. Well done, Landry.

It's not the first time. I think right now Ben McLemore is playing without a brain, Williams is taking crap shots with tons of time left on the clock, and I'm about ready to throw something at the TV.

Ben is of no use to the Kings right now. He's running to the corner on every possession and not doing anything else. No cutting, no screens, freaking nothing. I'd bench him and put in ... well, crap. That presents a problem, doesn't it? :p

They're not tied in the loss column.
You're right, they're not. They're actually "behind" in the loss column, which, if they were tanking, would give them incentive to lose.
And, doing some schedule forecasting, I'm going to say it again: they have neither any incentive nor need to tank.

OK, let's do some schedule forecasting.
Miami has two games I would expect them to win. Forecast: 37-45
Indiana has one game I would expect them to win. Forecast: 36-46
Charlotte has one game I would expect them to win. Forecast: 34-48

Utah has one game I would say they have a good chance to win - this one. Forecast 36-46

By tanking this game, Utah would likely secure the #10 spot and could be one lucky Hornets win from a tie for 9th. If they win this game, they could fall to 11th and with a tanky loss from Miami or a lucky win for Utah they could end up tied for 12th. Thus, this game plus one other random result could mean the difference between #9 and #12. If that's "no incentive" in your book, OK. Not in mine.
