I hear a lot of complaining about the smallball but what could Corbin do? Jason Thompson did nothing except get lost on almost every possession. The dude finished with a minus 32. A MINUS 32. YES, A MINUS 32.

That's an entirely possible outcome.

Vivek is going to look like an butthead for suggesting we'd win more games with Corbin. That just isn't going to happen.

Man, they messed up. I've never experienced anything quite like this as a sports fan. It's just incomprehensible what they did.

Basketball is more than analytics. You need chemistry, leadership, trust.

You need special emphasis on defense and half court sets. It is honestly sad what the FO did to this team. So disheartening.

I hope this whole thing is a great learning experience for Vivek and he will learn how to own a winning basketball team. But in the meantime, we have to sit here watching horrible basketball while Cuz wastes his prime. I really just feel bad for Cuz and wish they would trade him to a team that actually knows how to put a team together around him.

Until the Front office proves they are really onto something i'm going to keep calling them nerds/geeks/dorks. They fired the man who has bad boy detroit basketball in his blood for what again?

They failed to realize that this isn't a video game. You can't just plug and play different players and coaches and make trades and firings without reactions and consequences.

They took a glance at this team and decided it was theirs to experiment with.

This experiment failed, immediately. And now we all have to deal with it.

Hold on a second. Cousins won't even hit his true prime until he's 30-32. They better have the rookie jitters out of the decision making process by then. The question is whether or not he'll hit it with the Kings.

Trade for Detroit's Kyle Singler? Legit 3pt shooter for us.

I think we need a real starting PG... that's our problem. Either is a starting PG and move Collison to the bench, or get a really good backup PG.

I really don't think I've ever had a more frustrating time being a kings fan since the horry shot.

And no it's not because we are playing a 23-3 win team....

The way this team defends the basketball now compared to how they used to is really really disheartening. Like a poster said its like defense hasn't even been brought up in practice. The D looked just like this in the laker game and Milwaukee.

I was super pumped like many posters here on how this team was looking and our new punch em in the mouth with defense identity. My favorite brand of basketball. Kind of funny how my other team the niners played like that and had much success, and then when the tried to change their identity and make kaep a pocket passer they failed.

I guess the only glimmer of hope we can cling onto is George Karl :/

You had to bring up the niners.........
Niners go away from what made them successful......
Kings ownership just did the same, went away from a philosophy that was showing results.........
and my other team, the A's have completely blown up their successful team.

Im really really lost right now.

Whenever I hear the name "Festus", i get sidetracked thinking about Festivus.

Hey man I'm right there sitting next to you on this train to depression.

A's are also my team.

Just a bad bad bad time for us. Only good thing is that it can't possibly get any worse

Is it too early for a "fire Tyrone Corbin" thread?

I don't think it will ever be the right time for a "fire Tyrone Corbin" thread as this is not his train wreck. He didn't asked for it and I'm willing to bet he wouldn't have accepted the job if he'd known this was going to happen. I feel very sorry for him right now.

All 9er fans are emotionally invested in Harbaugh.. after 3 years of really winning compared to the Spurs level, he's fired.

Malone's firing is nowhere near that.

I cosign this. He's a very good assistant coach, and Vivek and co just threw him into the fire

Good grief, man, have you lost your mind? You do not EVER challenge "worse" - especially as a Kings fan.
I gotta agree with you here VF.
For us longtime kings fans:

Bobby hurley almost getting killed in an accident after a game.
Ricky Berry killing himself.
Jerry Reynolds almost dying on the court.

It can get worse. I swear this team has a giant hex on it.

2010- 2011 - Warriors were 36-48 Kings 24-58 - 2011-2012 Warriors 23-43 Kings 22-44 - 2012-2013 Warriors 47 - 36 Kings 28-54 - 2013-3014 Warriors 51-31 Kings 28-54

As recently as the 2011 season, the W's were no better than the Kings. But they acquired a good coach and front office, they DRAFTED SMART, and made smart trades, and they have developed a culture of winning. They wanted to win and they did what they needed to do to make that happen.

In that same time frame, the Kings have changed owners, GM's, Coaches, Players, and almost cities and now they are a franchise in complete disarray. At what point does the owner realize that constant change at the top does not make matters better, it makes it worse? If they do poorly the rest of the year does the GM get fired too? Are we tanking for a draft pick already ?

My point is that the Warriors and Kings had all the same opportunities. Same Region, same conference, same salary cap, same opportunities to sign free agents, same draft opportunities, same trade opportunities, EVERYTHING was the SAME. Yet THEY have succeeded and the KINGS HAVE HAD EPIC FAILURE !!

The New Owner needs to have a good GM in place and then disappear. I only want to see the owner when he is holding up the trophy. Other than that he needs to fade away. The GM needs to hire a coach that he can work with in unison and craft a plan to acquire talent that fits the plan and improve the roster slowly.... getting the pieces needed and resigning the talent you have while trading the talent that doesn't fit the big picture.

Money cant be the number one factor anymore. You have to spend to be a winner in the NBA. Does PDA have a plan ? What is the plan ? Firing the coach 1/4 the way into a season who was doing well is a MAJOR RED FLAG that the GM does not know what he is doing. Or perhaps winning is not his main objective. Saying that the Interim coach that you were opposed to hiring in the first place is going to be the coach for the rest of the season is not a GOOD PLAN. Corbin will be fired either before the end of the season or certainly before the start of next season. Corbin is not an NBA Caliber coach and needs to be replaced ASAP. The Sooner the Better.

PDA needs to put his stamp on this team. He needs to hire a legitimate NBA CALIBER COACH. George Karl is a legit coach, but there are others. Then he needs to start acquiring players that HE and the NEW COACH agree fit into the mold of the type of team you are trying to build. Since you have a Dominant big man, you have something to build around. Start with acquiring a PF that can rebound and defend. A Legit backup center that can play backup minutes so your star center doesn't have to keep playing huge minutes to bail the team out. Better outside jump shooters to take advantage of double teams on the center. Stop trying to emulate teams that run and gun. You don't have the personnel to play that style. Get rid of dead weight as fast as you can. Only players who should be on the roster should be contributors . Look at the Warriors bench. See any dead weight?

I truly hope that within a week, the Kings hire a Legitimate NBA Caliber Coach ! You have to have a foundation at the top. If not Karl, then someone of his ILK. Pay him so the players know he is there to stay for a while. Start there and then before the trade deadline address one of your many weaknesses. Backup Center and a back up PG are the areas of greatest need as far as I can tell. Fill at least one of those holes. Then play out the season and see what happens. Continue to work on rebuilding during the off season. Draft a player that will improve the team. Stauskas was the wrong player to draft when there was a desperate need for a PG. The better McLemore plays the worse that draft decision looks. Build chemistry thru CONSISTENCY of Coaching, Front Office and Management. Keep a core of players who are going to contribute to a winning culture. Cousins, Gay and McLemore are your Core. Everyone else is on the trading block. With an Eye to unloading dead weight, make trades to improve in areas you are weak. Establish a team identity. If you do those things Maybe you don't get BLOWN OUT by 20 and embarrassed by a team that only 3 years ago was just as bad as the Kings.

You know I was thinking the same. We had reke who was outplaying curry for their first two years in the league and boogie which could've been a deadly two man game.
- we had Samuel dalembert. The perfect front court pair
- draft picks ruined us.(jimmer to sell tickets smh)
-broke owners
- free agency busts(chuck Hayes)

to ride out the rest of the season with an interim head coach that they can shove their uptempo style of play onto. woooooohoooooooooooooooooo

If we hadn't gotten off to an incredible start, things wouldn't look so dire right now. But we Kings fans saw light at the end of the tunnel and rejoiced...only to get run over by the train...again.

ehh the basketball being played lately is inexcusable. Even with the hot start, most fans knew the Kings wouldn't win 50 games and most of us even knew Playoffs in the West weren't realistic. But playing .500 ball was a realistic thought. Until the front office went and blew up the season

It's rough. But come the 26th, I'll be there, cheering and hoping for the best.
