Game 2 goes to the Sun

Part of Puple Reign's post:
After having 12 hours to digest what I saw, I can't help but feel that last night's game was Kings like. If you are a Kings fan, you know what I am speaking of. There are two games that come to mind:

1. Of course, the proverbial "Robert Horry Moment". Game 4, 2002 Western Conference Finals...[snip]

Last night, I was watching the 10:00 p.m. Sacramento Fox station (Channel 40) news and saw Jim Crandall's sports report. He made the same exact comparison with the Robert Horry play, and last night's three-point shot by Brooke Wyckoff.

Of course, if Wyckoff's shot didn't go in, then all this talk about the ref's calls, or the Monarchs' mental lapses, or Coach Whiz' bad play decisions, etc., would've been moot.

1. Of course, the proverbial "Robert Horry Moment". Game 4 2002 Western Conference Finals.

2. Game 2 of the 2004 Western Conference Second Round when the Kings were up 10 on Minnesota in their house, and just handed them the game.

I know that this series is just getting started, but man that hurt!!! My observations on what the Monarchs must clean up to win this series.

They have to play straight man up on each player. The Sun does not have enough talent that deserve a double team, which I felt led to the game tying shot. But they do have some shooters and passers to where if you double someone, they will find the open spot up shooter and that shooter will drain it.

ENERGY, ENERGY and MORE ENERGY and intesity on defense. Push the tempo more on offense. I do not think that will be a problem at Arco.

Stop all of the ill-advised jump shooting Nicole KA-Powell. Play your game. Inside out. Make them double team Griffith, and then get your shot.

That is exactly what I didn't want to do; liken the Monarchs to the Kings past troubles. But if you were really going to draw a comparison, it would be more like the Bibby's shot to me. Ball goes off of Webb's foot, refs blow the call, Kings get the ball and Bibby hits the shot.

In any case, I am choosing not to try to draw any comparisons. Too early in a series. Its only 1-1 and days before the next game for both teams to think about the next game. Every time you think of some theory to explain momentum or the proverbial physcological edge a team might have over the other, it can and most often does get easily dismissed and at the very least diminished. That being said, winner of game 3 win the series IMHO

Don't have tickets yet (--still working out some things to get myself there), but checked online last night and were not too many left...I am doing everything in power to get there Sunday afternoon. Are you, Sacramento? Monarchs fan or not, we all here are basketball fans, and if you want to see some pretty good play, I'd suggest you get yourslef to Arco :)

I am going to Tuesday's game. There are still plenty of good tickets (lower sections) for that one, so give Greg a call (tickets forum) for that one as well. Although the timing kind of sucks since it starts at 5:00, for those of us who work. But at least I am going!!

Actaully my sales rep just called and said the lower Bowl is sold out.
And the upper bowl is moving quickly. So this is very good news.
If we were loud before can you imagine how loud we are gonna be Sunday.

DEFENSE!!!

That has to be so unnerving to the opposing team. I am gonna do my part.

Ohhh Please tell me that Anne Meyers will be there.

Please... Please... Please...
Been cheated of my hecking experience. She cheated me against LA and then she had the nerve to show for the Phoenix game.

Well I am gearing up early. I am so excited for Sunday I can't think straight.

No it wouldn't have been Moot. I would have still had plenty to say. And IMHO Conn would have been finished. I hate to say the ref's had that much impact on the game, however if the Sunn loses with all that help and at home, I think it would be a crushing blow.

However this finals going 4 games has tickled the rest of the League. Most of the people without an emotional attachment think this is awesome.

Guess I am selffish. Looking back I think they are right. This is wonderful for the league, and justifies the 5 game format.

I am not trying to get ahead of myself but...
Monarchs in 4...
Lets close it out Tuesday...

I had just gotten off the phone with my rep as well, I'm trying to get extras for Tues' games. I too asked about where they were with sales and it sounded as though the upper bowl is getting very full and those folks are working EXTREMELY hard getting the entire place full. Hats off to all the ticket reps at MS&E for busting it all week and to the Sacramento community for representing.

FILL ARCO....we're getting ready for a total eclipse the next few days............!!!!!!!!!!! GET OUT AND GET YOUR TICKETS IF YOU DON'T HAVE THEM.

Anne has to be ducking you Luv13....I'm betting it will still be Doris Burke behind the mic.

Wait...wait....I am getting confused between the two games. Are you saying that the lower bowl for Tuesday's game is sold out also...and that the upper bowl was selling quickly? I thought we were talking about Sunday.

Hmmm, this is what I thought about when I was watching the last few seconds of the 2nd game...

"Snow or Canty makes 1 of 2 FTs, Monarchs miss their shot, Swoopes hits a two...Comets up 3 with 6 seconds left. Powell hits a three...tied score...both Snow and TT fouled in last second shot attempt, no call, bad call...OT...Monarchs score the first 5 points in OT...game 1 in Western Finals goes to the Monarchs."

It was deja vue for this Comets fan to watch game two of the Finals...
Monarch player makes 1 of 2 FTs...Monarchs up by one...both teams miss some shots, a couple jacked-up threes by Monarchs (???)...Suns get a break from a bad call, but still misses the shot:) ...Monarchs rebound, Lawson fouled, makes two FTs...Monarchs up by three...Wyckoff hits three...tied, go to OT...Suns make first 7 points...Suns win. Deja vue.:(

I know how disappointed you are feeling, but you are not facing elimination...so unlike the Comets, put it behind you and win the next two. I still believe Monarchs will win. Have a great time at Arco...and don't forget to bring some earplugs!;) ...especially if you bring the cowbells!

I have my tickets for Sunday and Tuesday. Already got time-off for Tuesday. Also got my son and his girlfriend coming to town today to go to the game tomorrow. Monarchs fever will be hotter than the Suns!!!

I was talking about Sunday. But sales for Tuesday are starting to pick up. Didn't ask about the specifics about that day's game. But I would almost want to presume that the lower bowl has to be close to being sold out Tuesday.
