Our roster is frozen and as much as I like Fox, he has not proven that he can carry the team. The roster would remain imbalance and quite honestly we may tap out at the lower seed or first round. While I certainly just want to get a I the playoff, I think trading him for a haul and some potentials such as Shephard and Eason and draft capitol would still allow us to be competitive for the lower seed playoff as well as set us up for the future. IMO, Deebo still has what it takes as the fourth quarter closer that Fox is should we get to the playoff without Fox on this team for the next 1-2 years

Rookies and overlooked vets. Even without Fox signing the super max I don’t know how else we do it. Deebo was admittedly a surprise so maybe we can repeat that. But Monte was hired in Sept 2020 and since that time he picked up Halliburton, Keegan, Keon, and now Carter. Honorable mention to Davion but he’s clearly a lower tier than those other 4, at least so far. Monk and Lyles were both great finds, steals really. And Huerter was a good acquisition up until he forgot how to shoot.

that’s 6 great value adds in 4 years plus 2 near-hits in Davion and huerter. If Fox re-signs we have a solid 7-8 man rotation in Fox DDR Monk Keegs Domas Keon Carter Lyles. We have maybe just 1-3 good seasons of Deebo given his age, but I trust this FO to fill out the roster. Really our biggest need would be another full sized 3&D rebounding forward but that’s one of the most sought-after player archetypes there is so not surprising it’s hard to add another one next to Keegan

Brown's insistence on giving Davion inconsistent minutes probably cost us the opportunity to cash in on him. I think had he played him on Steph in Game 7 everything would be different and we'd have been able to move him for a positive asset instead of use him and 2nds to get off of another guy he had no use for.

And also, lets not forget that Davion wasn't Monte's first choice, everyone in the world new it was Franz. It just sucked because the exact spot where the Kings were was right outside the real window of certainty of who he wanted. Monte isn't whiffing on drafts, not by a long shot. Haliburton and Fox clearly wasn't a great combination on paper but if Haliburton had the defense of a Keon or Carter he would have been.

If Franz was there it would also change the stupid narrative that he only likes guards which I think we have too small of a sample size on to determine is fact. He may have even drafted Kris had the Blazers not nabbed him the pick before us in 23.

Monte's draft strategy is probably my favorite aspect of his skill as a GM. He doesn't give a flying **** about "need" or "position" he's drafting the guy he thinks is a star and the best player on his board. He's used pretty much all his 2nd round/UDFA capital on defensive-minded players/huge wingspan, athletes, etc to address need. And has a huge hit with Keon, something very few teams can also claim.

Again, I liked da Silva, but if he's Caleb Martin and Devin Carter is Jrue Holiday, does anyone care about how tall Devin Carter is? I also think the "need" based drafters should have been 100% in on Carter anyway. He's got incredible defensive upside for a tea that's massively struggled on the defensive end. Who cares what position he plays, we should want good-great defenders on this team.

Can't wait for him to get traded to HOU, lead them to the WCF and Kings fans start complaining about "hOw cOuLd wE tRaDe tHiS gUy" despite making him the scapegoat all year.
