Friggin Kobe...

did it again. Amazing! Even though i despise that arrogant SOB and the team he plays for, sometimes you just gotta sit back and appreciate greatness

I also don't gotta. I'll give him the respect he has earned as a player, but I don't gotta appreciate ****.

As a basketball fan I exercise my right to be completely partial and not recognize anything about Kobe except for the fact that I hate him and the horse he rides in on.

Plus, we all know he made a deal with the devil.;)

Kobe sux in every way possible

You take away palming, travel, elbows, all offensive fouls, flops etc.. and you get another Kevin martin for all I care

I could swallow him making that basket if I didn't have the realization that not in one million years would Kobe have ever been called for that push off on the play before.

if he was so great he would be int he bench late 4th quarter with a 20 to 30 point lead and already with his 30 points...

no i am not impressed by his accolades and awards... he is good but he is way overrated.. that 81 point he had it was still even close and a shear example of ball hogging.

any ways i just hate him :D

How could you hate him?? He still manages to put up amazing numbers, while battling a bad finger, ankle, back spasms, shoulder pains, a bad toe, bad knees, migraines, shin splints, a unibrow, a 98.8 degree fever, a sore elbow, senioritis, mood swings, depression, AND H1N1. He truly is a warrior.

Rot in hell kobe. If every other player in the NBA bitched and moaned about every sore muscle as much as you did, they'd be "warriors" too.

Don't forget the chainsaw lodged in his back, the nails through his boutonnierre(courtesy of the lady on the bud light commercial http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MULe2aQftwQ ), a broken hand, hang over-errr food poisoning from an evil cheese burger, his dehydration(because someone spit in his gatorade), etc. With as many ailments as he has, it's amazing he's a live. I honestly am surprised he's not a zombie or anything, the average human would be dead... or maybe he is a zombie?;)

sure its easy to put up 30 a night when every other player knows if they breath on you its a foul.

+1

he gets away too much, elbows (see last yrs play offs on shane battier, ron artest), push offs.

i saw his latest quotes that he's "old school", he wants hand checks and all that returned to the game.

I read that too.. kobe's game is built on expecting touch foul calls. The old school way is not what he really wants. Although I'm sure he wants to be the one giving the elbows and hip checks.

Disagree. The Snake handles 1:1 defense better than zones, especially those w/ 3s and 4s helping (see 2004 and 2008). If he gets 1:1, he's still a superstar and is going to feel like calls are a right and privilege of membership. He's also one of the few players who didn't cry about Bowen or Artest bodying him.

What is your definition of "cry" by NBA standards? Is it looking back at the ref with a grumpy frown and yell for a call every time you miss a layup, or airball a 3, just to save face? If so, Kobe cries plenty, against Artest, Bowen, and every other player that dares to alter his shot.

Coming from Gargamel regarding kobe I wouldn't expect anything else. :D

Kobe complaints everytime he misses a shot on his drives. Screaming at the refs, as if getting foul is the only reason he'll ever miss a shot. Kobe doesn't complaint about guys like Ron Ron or Raja Bell by words... he just elbows them in the face to get them off his back and gets away with it.

Also, teams used to double the top players all the time even with the physical play. They don't play 1 on 1 on a top player just because they can be more physical.

You're right on the first two accounts. It's a little different getting hit on a shot attempt than it is to cry about a guy like Artest bodying you. He didn't cry on the latter. He handled it ol skoo.

As to the 3rd, zones and doubles aren't necessarily the same. When teams USED to double, the offensive man had to have the ball.
