Friar

Devin said he was chirping at Monk on that fast break to pass him the ball. I'm sure Monk got a kick out of that considering he is a professional chirper himself.

They asked Keegan if he's been giving Carter any advice about the ups and downs of a rookie season and he said a little but you don't really need to talk to him about that stuff because he definitely doesn't lack confidence.

Yeah I remember when Quincy douby had his first 30 min game. He had 21pts 5reb 3stls.

LOL. Funny you mention that. I was just looking over pretty much all the Kings draft picks over the last 20 years a week or so ago to see how they measured up in pure production. Guess what, Nik, Douby, Jimmer, some others? Nope, didn't do jack in their time for the most part. Carter is right there with the better picks over the years per minute for a rookie and by far better in things like rebounding. Give it time, the tools are there and that's where the upside is. How many points he gets, rookie flubbs, bad stretches, good stretches etc. isn't the point, it's the possbility that all the metrics line up to the point that the possibility is the upside is real and really high. The other thing is the defense. If Douby had defensive ability like Carter, let alone the athletic/physical tools, he wouldn't have been Quincy Douby.

If Keegan had Carter’s confidence he would be an absolute monster. Hopefully it rubs off on him a little bit.

I don't think Keegan necessarily lacks confidence. I think it's more an issue of aggression and being more assertive. He seems to be too passive IMO. He needs to look for his shots more often.
As @ockingsfan said, I don't think Keegan has a confidence issue, but rather a "How the heck do I leverage my confidence into the application of my talent and skills on the basketball court" (and off of it as well, for that matter...) issue. Once he is able to figure out how to do this, Keegan can, and will, absolutely become a monster on both ends of the floor.

And again it's the off the dribble ability in pick and roll. Carter has what appears to be a near elite first step. You can't teach that, you can't work on it in the summer. Carter needs refinement like any rookie or at least more intel on what he can get away with but he can clearly pull it off. Handles can improve, the other abilities don't. One thing Keegan is now doing though is using his size to bump guys when going straight into the paint. That's where he maybe starts getting to the line some and he will at some point.

It will be interesting to see what the kings do with Devin next year. I’m hoping he just explodes in the summer and he is given serious consideration for big minutes. Hoping to not see him in a 8-15 min role next year
