I confess i didn't watch tonight. Garcia's scoring ability and potential puts him miles ahead of Salmons IMO for the long run.
But---there is not much between them, and how any team could pay 30 million for Salmons with Martin, Artest, Garcia and Douby already in tow is up for enormous debate.
Unless of course they had no plan. Which seems less debatable.

Salmons is the jack of all trades. He can guard PG's to SF's He can play PG to SF. (Can't play PG very well, but he can bring the ball up) he can rebound, he can somewhat shoot. His impact very much like Cisco's does not show up in the box score very often. Cisco is one of those guys unlike Salmons sometimes gets a little out of control. He sometimes shoots to quick, attacks when he doesn't have numbers, and gets a little out of control on defense. Cisco has a much better shot though. I'm glad they are both on the Kings.

I'm deeply troubled that the state of the Kings is such that we're arguing the talent differential between John Salmons and Francisco Garcia.
One has a career full of blah, and the other has potential that's yet to be seen.

oddly enough Garcia has made a few more three's than Salmons. He's attempted a few more, but he's also played in half the minutes that Salmons has played.

I think Cisco has 'trade bait' written all over him...young, athletic, tons of potential, and rarely gets good playing time.
Garcia has more potential and overall talent but he's inconsistent. he'll come in and make an impact, but will balance it out with some boneheaded moves and poor decisions. he just has some learning to do.
Salmons isnt as good, but certainly isn't bad. he provides a nice boost and is fairly consistent as well

I agree with VF here. I think Salmons is more valuable to the Kings right now as player and Garcia more valuable as a trade peice.
That's so true. Salmons is our 6/7th man with Corliss so he gets a lot more minutes than Cisco. Cisco can be very good, he is young and is learning. That darn twisted ankle really set him back, he was doing so good then. Salmons has a really calming effect about him, unlike few players I've seen. Cisco is very young and wirery, I do like his Defense, like Salmons, but he also is a pretty good shot blocker for his size and length. I think of him as a Cristie type and can develop into a good defender/ 3 point shooter. I like his energy/hustle and he does have a pretty good shot. In all I like both guys, Cisco is sure cheaper though.
Cisco has a lot of potential, I think it really boils down to he is young and wants to prove himself and doesn't have the patience or time to do it.
Whereas, Salmons has the 5 year 25M deal we signed him to, so he is confident and knows his role as a 3 position player off the bench that starts when any of the regular 1-3 position guys cannot.
