foul question

when players commit foul, they tend to protest the call and i never seen the call got reversed. does the referee ever reverse the foul call in nba history when confronted by the player (i did see a lot of them got technical if the conversation took too long though)? if not, why the players keep doing it?

It's not about getting the call reversed (which almost never happens) it's about trying to get a macke up next time... that DOES happen. But ingeneral the whining about calls really is way over done and detracts from the game. I would guess that complaining has resulted in points on the other end way more often than it ever has gottne "make up calls."

In all honesty, a lot of the times the players argue because, in the heat of play, they don't really think they committed the foul. And, for some strange reason, I think some of them really believe they may be able to convince the official to see the error of his ways.

No I've never seen a referee ever go... "O I'm sorry, here let me change the call" And it never will... Most of the time it's just ill-tempered players that are frustrated, and being stupid. But sometimes they talk to the ref to make sure they get the call next time, or to look for it happening. In that case, it's very productive.

I don't get it either. When you're protesting a call you might even get a T.

although not exactly the same thing, we pacer fans saw an oddity a week or so ago...

a referee made an improper call with regard to who the ball went off of and therefore who would have possession....rick carlisle jumped off the bench and went nearly all the way down to the other bench....for which he was given a technical....

the referee then conferred with the other officials....deemed he made the wrong call....and reversed his call....

and he took away the technical as well on carlisle...

very strange....first time i had ever seen that....ever...

Yeah, they are usually getting a clarification on why a call went a certain way or try to bring attention to the other players' antics to try to get a make-up later.

Sometimes they are just really into the game and get upset.

Sometimes they are just jerks.

Does that clear it up? :)

They just want to let the refs know they made a bad call and they shouldnt make it again or it was so obvious and you better reverse it.

I remember when Chris Webber and boby jackson were talking to the refs one game and they actually talked to the ref and they ACTUALLY overturned it.

It was a thing that I have only seen once which was amazing!

They should've saved it for Game 6.

Aw, I just hurt my own feelings.
