From an article by Doug Smith in the Toronto Star yesterday comes this interesting tid-bit about our ole friend Yogi Stewart. But wonder if he is as good as or any better than Skinner. Yogi would be 31 or 32 by now, at least.

Yes, Yogi Stewart, who came to be the poster boy for the evils of long-term, guaranteed contracts in his end-of-the-bench tenure with the Raptors, is working out almost daily trying to resurrect a career that ended last spring. No word on whether he’s got a shot, but you have to admit he’s living proof that dreams die hard.

I think it was '98 actually. The year before the resurrection.

Rest of his story of course was that he used to be a Kings ballboy(?) as a kid and had always dreamed of playing for us. The first such recorded instance in the history of the NBA.

And no, he's not very good. Never really was, but after his knees went on him, he's probably not an NBAer any longer.

I went to the game where he blocked like 5 shots in a quarter. It was a record back then. My teacher in high school was also his coach at Kennedy. Other then that I would not want him back. He would just be behind Sampson anyways.

I remember watching this guy play for Kennedy HS at Arco during the section championships way back when. He was a beast. Don't think he'd be too much help to us now.

Hey, don't forget that Randolph Morris at Kentucky is officially an NBA free agent.

If Morris is smart, he will stay where he's at. He has helped the Wildcats this year but he still needs work. It also wouldn't be good for him to jump to the NBA and burn what remains of his bridge behind him. I also think he has stated that he plans to stick around KU for awhile.

Then again, the Wildcats haven't had the best of years this year.

I figured Mercer would still be hanging around someone's bench as well but I see he's been looking for work all season since being waived by the Nets.

and we already have defense on the bench in Skinner, and he never plays, either. Yogi might play well in the NBADL.
