The amazing part for me is that Vivek and PDA, in their quest to establish a winning culture, have somehow created an even worse culture than they inherited. The lack of trust permeates the entire franchise right now. Nothing else matters (certainly not 'offensive acumen') until the locker room starts trusting and respecting each other, the coach, and management again. Right now players (and Corbin) are just biding time to see who the next coach is, and which of their teammates will be gone at the trade deadline.
Lack of stability, trust, that's the culture of your Sacramento Kings. It's hard to play basketball in those conditions.
I still don't see a path to that state of trust and mutual respect at the moment. It was there and one move killed everything that was being built.
You rarely see a franchise so thoroughly destroy a team that had just started to turn the corner. But it was so fragile. Vivek thought we had a well oiled Sousa marching band. He was wrong. Nothing was firmly established.
To change coaches they needed to do it at the right time and with an understanding, if not full support, from key players (Boogie, Rudy, DC). They neither got the timing right or the support.
And now we have full on player revolt. Are they throwing games? Well, perhaps not on purpose, but in effect, by having zero effort for large chunks of games, yes, they are. The question is, how does the team ever get back on track? It's getting worse by the day at this point.
I do believe there is a quick road back. But it doesn't involve Corbin. Until that move is made, it's going to get uglier and uglier.

It doesn't matter either way. He is gone at the end of the year (maybe back in an assistant position, but I highly doubt it.)

I dont think im ok with firing corbin. He was never really chosen as the head coach of the Kings, atleast not by any legitimate means. Firing Corbin would stop short of solving the problem. Get a real coach and relegate Corbin back to an assistant status. Allow the new coach to decide if he wants Corbin on his coaching staff. Solving the root of our problem would definitely involve firing PDA. "Its not as much about wins, its about our playing style and creating a compelling product. We want to have a compelling product for the new arena." That comment by itself would be enough for me to fire anyone. We also need seperation of power. The owner does the ownership duties. The GM does the GM duties. The coach does the coaching duties. San Antonio comes to mind when i think of teams that have done this properly. We can only hope that Vivek has an epiphany in which he realizes that he knows nothing about basketball.

You know what is funny, that someone would come along right after the Kings jettison Malone and the fan base absolutely revolts like never before (even under Maloofs) and have the attitude that they have taken a step in a positive direction - and throw little disses at Malone in the teeth of a dreadful start under Corbin. Don't you think that is funny?

I'd prefer Karl but I can see how Mike can totally change his reputation with another chance on a team with talent and athletes like the kings. People remember his stints with the lakers and Knicks more than his NBA changing success in Pheonix. As we see with how the those two organizations are doing, I think it's obvious that Mike didn't really have a chance.

Mike had Nash and Amare with Phoenix! Amare is an athletic big guy, and look what's happened to his knees now? I don't even want to imagine what would happen to big Cuz running back and forth like that. Ridiculous to even consider, IMO, we will be shortening his career. And right now DMC scores in the post at will. If it aint broke don't fix it, why would we go changing style to fit a coach who's been run out of the league?

Well After Mike, Amare went on to BLAST D'Antoni publicly for a lack of defensive coaching and philosophy. It's well documented at this point that even the players, Cuz especially, believe the defense right now is not where it needs to be and that's why games are being lost. Mike D'Antoni is a 1 trick pony and i for one will be thoroughly disgusted if is even under consideration for the kings HC job.
BTW i'm done here Pace, i don't know if you make these little jabs to get people fired up or what, but i'm not dignifying you with anymore responses...

The more appropriate question is what did Amare doe after several major injuries sapped all of his athleticism? And before D'Antoni, Nash was one of the more dynamic young point guards in the league (also having to contend with Dirk and Finley for the ball in Dallas). After D'Antoni, Nash's body completely broke down with injury after injury.

This is not what I wanted out of this season. But with how far we have fallen, we might as well get something out of it. Who knows, maybe Cleveland's luck ran out and we get that #1. Highly doubt it, but who knows.

D'Antoni? His only success was on the back of Steve Nash. We have Daren Collison. Our best player is the top center in the league, not an MVP caliber PG. You're not even making sense. What his stints in NY and LA show is he owes his success to Nash and his gimmick system doesn't work otherwise. Go back to your GS forum.
Anyone on here wanting D'Antoni as coach is straight up trying to **** with fans of this team.

D'antoni is not my first choice. Just saying he's got a bad rap. It wouldn't surprise me if he landed in the right spot and had another great run.

Amari was sapped out of a lot of athleticism early in his first few years. He remained a superstar because of Dantoni system and a great midrange game.
Nash was a good pg before mike, and became basically an all time great with mike. Lin was a bench player who became a superstar with Mike for a short while.
Mike had the perfect players for his system in Pheonix but they didn't make him. Coaching garbage teams with terrible FO the last few years hasn't exposed him IMO.

Our roster is nothing like the Pho roster under D'Antoni. Nothing at all.
