Fire Christie

It's one thing to "rebuild" and have a losing season but this is just another level. The team clearly has quit on him. He's in way over his head. How Vivek and company didn't interview all the other available coaches is just a complete travesty.

It's time to move away from all these ex Kings and do this properly!

We've had one of these threads every season for as far back as I can remember. I get it that "enough is enough" for a lot of people but I don't think firing yet another head coach is the answer. This would make two fired head coaches in less than 12 months, for one thing. And it's not like the next coach is going to just stop playing the vets either.

Maybe the next coach brings a system that plays to the strengths of the current roster.

I’m for Christie departing. He was handed the job. He hasn’t earned it. So I won’t feel sorry dismissing him. Sacramento has always overrated him. He was the 6th or 7th best player on a very good team. He wasn’t a star. His defense was always overhyped because he “made the opposing guard work” for his 27 points.

That's true and while there is tanking, this is getting to the point where even if Perry is using DC as a shield this is going to splash back so hard on him that it's inevitable. The benefit about this is then Perry is at least exposed to the elements. Then the real clock starts ticking.

….the last day of the regular season.

Lean into the tank. There is no reason to do it now. Unfortunately for Doug, this is probably it for his head coaching career.

The problem with tanking is it doesn’t mean the Kings will benefit. Who tanked and really benefited?

The Kings have never benefited but that's because they don't put the other foot forward after that and actually DEVELOP anyone. Kings down by 40 and Devin Carter, a recent lottery pick gets ZERO minutes? This is straight up crony BS. The NBA has always been that but even the mid tier teams get out of their own way at some point.

buhahahah thread title......that slack for Christie? 1 or 2 games, "off with his head"

The issue is at least on the surface Christie is the one running head first in the same wall. Over and over. Saying one thing and doing another. Tonight for the first time this season he looked as dead on the sidelines as his team. Is he being coerced into doing certain things? Is it his call? Been here, done this, it won't matter at some point movement will be made if for nothing more than to attempt to show some signs of life. The Kings MO is when it gets to this point Vivek swallows a little more coaching $$$. This time he gets off cheap too.

You should be pluralized - we are legion

I think Vivek's may be a lightweight in the owners' spectrum of richie-riches

I already know the Kings suck this year...and that's why I decided not to watch the Kings this year. Why? Because they brought back the same starters that don't play defense. DeRozen, Lavine, Sabonis, Monk.....Westbrook doh....yeah, that's majority of your core right there. You can't expect to win games without guarding anybody. They're not two way players and they need to be surrounded by 2-players to validate them being on the court. But if you put a bunch of 1-way lethal offensive players on the court...that ain't going to work. The ONLY way to win games is praying some night, the other teams have an off night but if not? Forget it. The Kings offensive power is impressive but you ain't going to win games by exchange basket every trip down the court. I think the Kings should tank and rebuild...cuz this ain't working. DO some trades ....Sabonis for Ja Morant or some stars if that's what needed to ignite a culture change.

I don't watch the game and I already know it ain't Christie's fault. You can't blame him for building a team that sucks on defense.

Maybe, but it's really an unlosable game at this point with the crazy valuations of the teams lately. Sure dried up the well of the city tax payers paying for a teams brand spanking new arena or we move at least lol.
Isnt it multiuse arena at least? That's the old style way of funding arenas - more recently its private equity stuff......

There's not much sense firing Christie during a "gap year", no matter how ill-conceived this organization's approach to that "gap year" happens to be. I don't think he's a good coach, and I can think of a half-dozen candidates off the top of my head whom I would rather see in the role, but you pull that trigger when you're ready to be a serious franchise again.

Still, it's ludicrous that Devin Carter didn't see a single second-half minute tonight. At no point in the first three quarters did Christie's rotation appear even remotely competitive. I just don't understand why a team with the second-worst record in the conference doesn't empty the bench on the second night of a back-to-back. It makes no sense no matter how you slice it. If you're a bad team, you make sure you get your young players extended run in the fourth quarter of an absolute blowout. If you're operating under the delusion that you're not a bad team, you still make sure you get your young players extended run in the fourth quarter of an absolute blowout.

Your "still" paragraph is throwing in the towel.....lets philosiphize - > Why fire him? Why not fire him?
