Evan Turner

During the draft and even now, Philly has been shopping ET. He has some things that we could really use-ballhandling and passing, plus a chip in his shoulder as he's constantly labeled a draft bust. He wasn't given a fair shake in Philly, and is simply a TERRIBLE fit there. I think we could get him on the cheap. Maybe MT for Turner straight up, or JT.

I might be intersted in that. Young and has the versatility to handle the ball from the SF positions. His stat line of 13.3 PPG, 4.3 APG and 6.3 RPG is the kind that i want out of our SF. His FG% (.419) isn't the greatest, but his 3 pt FG% (.365) is decent.

I wouldn't call trading MT or JT for Turner "on the cheap".

That's exactly what I would call "on the cheap". An overpaid chucker or admittably versatile but low-IQ backup big for a starting small forward which we've been lacking since Metta World Elbow?

Thornton scores 20 per game as a starter and is quite the clutch performer. Thompson can equally defend PF's and C's and is a starter. Turner is a boarder line starting quality SF with a poor shooting percentage.

I say no, he's simply not good enough. Plus there's probably a reason why Iguodala, his own teammate, elbowed him in the head a few years ago.

Other than his FG% (.419 vs. .451), his stats are on par with AI's. Better 3pt FG%, better FT%, better RPG, comparable APG, better PPG. His defense is not as good, but i think it is still above average and i think their ball handling is pretty comparable as well. Now i am not saying he is better than AI, but i do think he is good enough to play SF for us and has some upside.

I like taking a chance on Turner.. We dont have the trade assets too get a top SF IMO... And theres no one in Freeagency that intrigues me other then AK47. Turner was supposed too break out last year. He improved alot but didnt quite reach the level people thought. He is getting better every year though. I think he brings everything we need at that poisition if we keep Tyreke.

People are worried about if Reke can handle the PG position. Well Turner would be Rekes insurance, because he is more then capable of running an offense effectively. Reke and Him could split the duties like Lebron and Wade do.

ETs super versatile position wise too, he can play PG,SG,SF all effectively.

Plus, he wouldn't have to worry about Reke obliterating him twice a year if they end up on the Kings together

I'm not a big fan of Turner. Right now I just want Kirilenko. We should try to get him as soon as possible. There were rumors about San Antonio being interested, but I don't think they can sign him now, after the Splitter and Ginobili contracts. AK47 would be a great addiction, he's the best SF available now and he has everything we need. Defense, leadership, winning mentality.

Besides his poor shooting percentage, his stats are great- 13 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists. Not great, but above-average defender. Great passer and ballhandler. Decent 3pt shooter. He's more than borderline, he's real starting-caliber and he has a lot of potential, and doesn't need any more developement than he's already gotten to be an effective starter for us.

I would probably take AK47 over Turner aswell. But hes prolly gonna want a huge contract.. ET still has untapped potential, would be a good alternative and is much cheaper.

Turner is most accomplished playmaker Philly have right now. He will get every chance to shine, as Sixers want to know if hes' the real deal. Don't think he's easy to get.

He's also on the last year of his rookie deal this season meaning the Kings would have to decide whether to lock him up or let him walk after one season. Considering they have the same decision to make with Patrick Patterson (who would presumably take JT's role as the starting PF if Thompson were dealt to acquire Turner) I can think of a few reasons not to go that direction. Thornton for Evans I'd do but would Philly? More importantly, if we're looking for a role playing SF, doesn't it make more sense to grab a guy who can't bolt or demand a huge raise after one season?

I really wonder what the market for Kiri is, at this point. the teams with cap space right now are Charlotte, Cleveland, Dallas, Detroit, Houston, Milwaukee, New Orleans (depending on Fropez), Philly, Phoenix, us (depending on Salmons and possibly dumping Thornton) and Utah. of those teams, I really only see Cleveland, Detroit and Nawlins as possible fits (with apologies to Dallas, who have bigger fish to fry anyway). is any one of those teams likely to give him a large contract, though? shouldn't we be in play here? also, is Nawlins possibly just screwing with us with that offer sheet to Reke in order to detract us from SF targets?

Yes, they are screwing with us. That's the reason the contract that they offered to Tyreke is front loaded. It's a smart play by there FO for multiple reasons.

What difference does this make if we don't pursue any other big time FA? What are the multiple reasons? I've been puzzled by this.
