ESPN: 10 greatest shooting guards ever

yea but averaging 28ppg for your career is nothing short of amazing and he is a game changer kind of player and how does lebron hurt his team?????:confused:

Oops I just mistyped that. I meant Lebron is the type that helps his teammates play better rather than Iverson who is a one man show. I know 28ppg over a career is amazing but I think a lot of players could put on a one man show with a low shooting % and lose for years like he has if they wanted to. I know you can say they made it to the finals, but come on, thats in the East. Making it to the finals in the east is like making it to the 2nd round in the West.

i still dont see whats so special about what kobe has done since shaq left.... tmac is on some incredible type sh** right now.... the rockets are like 31-3 since jan. 2nd.... they have lost only 3 games in 2008 and yao has been hurt for a minute.... replace tmac with kobe from 2000-2004 and shaq would still have 3 rings....

replace Tmac with Kobe; Kobe and Yao make it passed the first round.

I agree 100% with you first point. The second I would disagree in this respect. Pistol Pete was a legacy of monumental proportions in college at LSU. His staggering 44.2 PPG average is more unbelievable when considering there was no 3-pt line. Educated speculation claim he would have averaged an astronomical 57 PPG if he'd had the 3-pt line in college. In the NBA he was a 5-time All Star leaving the game as the 16th ranked scorer of all time with average 24.2 PPG - again without a 3-pt line. He once hit for 68 against the NY Knicks and could have poured in more, but fouled out of that game when 5 fouls disqualified. Maravich led the NBA in scoring 1976-77 at 31.1 PPG. Of course, he's in the Basketball Hall of Fame. Interesting that it's the B-BALL HOF not the NBA Hall of Fame. Anyone who wants to see the ULTIMATE MARAVICH go here...

I get you. I just am focusing on his NBA career. He did have his struggles when bringing the game he played so well at LSU to Atlanta. The difference between the freedom he had at LSU (where his father was coach) and early 70s NBA was stark.

I realize he was a perennial star in the NBA, but he's got the same smite against him that Nique does, even moreso. Because he had to play on crap teams, he never got to vie for legend status in the same way that conventional legends did (ie: in the playoffs). It's hard to estimate where he ranks next to those guys in light of that. If Nique gets criticized for never winning a 7-gm series (Worthy made the Top 50 cut before Nique, iirc), Pete can't be given a pass. He has to be judged less on his performance in big games and more on his unique abilities and how they furthered the league.

That's a great vid, btw. I've seen it many times.
