Eli Manning to replace Kurt Warner as Giants starting QB

Unfortunate. But here's hoping the kid falls flat on his face and gets hammered out of the league within two years. A pipe dream probably. But would bring a smile to my face.

P.S. Have always liked Brees, back to his college days. Not the most talented guy, but tough and a leader. Somewhat reminiscient of Flutie in a way -- undersized, not a great arm, but gritty and competitive. The sort of uy you'd follow. Good trait in a QB.

Don't like the Mannings, eh?

Hater. ;)
They brought it on themselves.

Lucky I wasn't running San Diego. Would've drafted him, benched him, and done my best to humiliate the hubris right out of him. Then after I reduced him to the practice roster, and with Brees coming through this year, I could have cut him mid-season with a short press conference about how his attitude and work ethic were not up to NFL standards all the while comparing him unfavorably to Ryan Leaf.

But then again I've been told that I am more than a little vindictive. ;)

Why not dig up Craig Whelihan and start him in front of Manning, just because you can?

The only thing about it, Brick, is that in football, draftees can hold out and [I believe] sign elsewhere as a free agent that same season.

Secondly, everything that the Mannings suggested about the Chargers is accurate. That is not a winning franchise. It's like a player suggesting that he doesn't want to play for the Clippers or the Hawks. Can't blame them.

But I do know what you mean, in a way. How dare someone with the chance to play in the NFL (or any other professional sports league, for that matter) stick their nose up at a team with the ability to draft them? Takes some serious gumption. And I believe that the Chargers would have drafted Eli regardless, had Philip Rivers not been available. Some people consider him to be a better quarterback anyways.
