He'd be a solid back-up at PF/C. He's brings skills we need like shot-blocking and rebounds and he's not a big risk because his contract is cheap. In this regard, getting him is a no-brainer.

Actually, Griffin is a no-brainer as in he doesn't have a brain.

Read somewhere that the Wolves are demanding he get eye surgery. Not sure what the problem is but it may affect his shooting but not rebounding/shotblocking.

5 blocks!!!!!!
Yep. But note the only 4pts 6rebs.

Unless he gets hurt, this guy is going to block a ton of shots for you. But if we were going ot bring him in and try to start him or whatnot to cover Brad, he's got to be able to give you something close to a double double to go with that shotblocking.

Point is, SK, that he's not a guy who fights for rebounds.
Well, the numbers don't necessarily bear that out. He gets a LOT of rebounds somehow (13.9/48 -- compare that to KTs 12.7/48). But consistency is a major question mark, and he just looks...sluggish sometimes.

Thing is given how much time he spends on the perimeter on offense, and how many shotblocks he goes after on defense, it should be hard for him to gobble up boards, but he grabs a ton of them.

Adelman is a great offensive coach and works well with players whose reputations are shaky. Sacramento doesn't make any player a better defender, but a player can flourish on offense with the team. The good thing about Griffin is that he already has shotblocking skills.

The Kings could have Miller, Griffin, Artest, Bonzi or Martin, and Bibby on the floor at the same time. At least Sacramento would have someone to defend the interior.

ohhhh baby you know how this pleases me! bring him in! wooooot! maybe they would want to trade bad contract for bad contract.... jaric for thomas... we give kmart/garcia they give griffin... then we have a good rotation downlow

We won't be trading away K-Mart/Garcia for Griffin. Besides, Wolves already got McCants/Hassell/Davis for the wings.

It'd involve one/two of KT/maybe Bonzi/Corliss/Potapenko/Hart/Sampson/cash.

Some quotes from Wolves fans:

he'll get traded in the offseason because his contract is so small and it'll be a target for some teams thsi offseason.
He is the type of guy we need to keep, but since he plays the same position as KG he's expendable. If he played any other position and had the same contract and upside I don't think there would be any way we'd deal him, but that isn't the case. Having bargains on the team is great, but it isn't that important to us to have a bargain at the backup PF spot right now.
Good point CY. We don't need another often injured player. I think Horace made a good point. Eventhough EG is solid, he is best suited as a PF and we all know he will not get big minutes playing that spot. Therfor he is available if the deal is right.
I never said that shrink, you've got quite the talent for putting words in the mouths of others.

Griffin is a luxury for us, albeit a relatively inexpensive one. He's a backup for us, and our coach doesn't seem overly fond of him. He wouldn't be that expensive to replace, and a slight downgrade in production/potential wouldn't hurt the Wolves hardly at all. He's expendable, since any deal he would be included in will likely fill a position of more need.

You know it peeps.. i love him. He is the exact type of player we need... if we dont want to tweek it to much, we can grab him and then we will fill a ton of need. I would want to see him start though...

had some time, so I wasted it:D
a "little" scenario to get griffin (and can't re-sign bonzi)
and assuming thomas is still ny's gm

Marbury Back To Minnesota?
21st April, 2006 - 5:32 am
New York Daily News - According to New York Daily News writer Frank Isola, the Knicks may have a taker for 'Starbury' after all.

Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor told the Minneapolis Star-Tribune on Wednesday that his team is interested in acquiring Stephon Marbury, whom Minnesota drafted 10 years ago and traded to the Nets in 1999. However, Taylor admitted that Marbury's contract - he'll earn $60 million over the next three seasons - is a major stumbling block.

"Yeah, it isn't that we couldn't use somebody like that. We certainly could with his experience, and we know him," Taylor told the newspaper. "It's that he was signed at a salary that's going to cause us problems. So it would be difficult, it would have to be one of those things where New York would have to say that they really want to get rid of the player and could help us in some financial way to do it. We wouldn't know until this summer if that would even be a possibility."

According to several team sources, Isiah Thomas is committed to trading Marbury, whose skills have diminished while his reputation as a malcontent has grown appreciably.

However, Marbury's trade value never has been lower; he is showing signs of breaking down and he is a point guard who makes his teammate bitter, not better.

Successful Scenario
Due to New York, Sacramento, and Minnesota being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. New York, Sacramento, and Minnesota had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Minny would have to clear one of their big $$ PGs, and realistically they don't need us to do that -- Blount/Jaric just about works. And in fact if they do trade away Blount in such a deal, think Girffin becomes that much more unattainable as their only remaining center.

I lvoe that trade... and I think i would work. New York needs some better big men... and KEnny could work well in NY. I think we get the best of the deal becase we lower cap, and fill needs. If this could go down i would be love it... the problem is... madson is a FA now... so it couldnt include him.. so i re did this scenario

This works without any sign and trade stuff... and we get a very solid back up PG... witch fills more of a void for us.

So now the t wolves have husdons big contract off the books, and have steph to help KG

New york saves cap, alot of it, and gets some bigs to help.
