Eating crow RE: Rick Adelman

Very interesting idea and team setup back then. Bonzi left, the dynamic left, it was time to rebuild. I was all for building the house out of dynamite at the time but it wasn't to be. At the end of the day that may have been the single thing that allowed this franchise to have a bright future which I think it does now.
Rebuild with the coach, not the players. Whatever you may want to say about Adelman, everything else that happened was on the players, and there's a reason why many of them aren't here now...

It's good to hear some people admit they were wrong in supporting him being run out of town, better late than never...

but as someone else said, the main issue was between Adelman and the Maloofs, and they are the ones I really blame for Adelman going. You don't have to be chummy-chummy with your employees, you just let them do what they are doing if what they are doing is working. As far as I know, they still haven't even admitted anything about what they did, and with regards to Theus (who's doing the best he can) and the current Kings team, this re-building is going to go on for a looooong time thanks to their karma.

and at the very least you can show up to said employee's first game back with an opposing team to say "thanks for all the years of good service." i think that was the point where i grew to dislike the maloofs.

Yeah, me too.

I was kind of on the fence at the time, not liking *everything* about Adelman, but fearing that we wouldn't find a better replacement. In retrospect, it may have made the Maloofs happy personally, but it was a major blunder for the franchise. A better replacement is still nowhere in sight. I'm sure that the Kings, or whatever they're called by then, will one day have a better coach, but I'm definitely not going to bet that it will be in the next decade. Or in Sacramento.

I wasn't saying I agree with the way it ended up going down. I still think that it would simply have delayed the rebuilding effort. I don't think Adelman was or is the right choice for a rebuilding Kings sqaud. Change needed to happen, might as well start there.
