It think it was a 5.9. I was calling the office from a pay-phone near Paradise, CA when the people in the office were watching a bank of seismographs for aftershocks.

Ah, yes. Simpler days when people didn't know from cellphones. "In my day, we actually had to FIND a phone if we wanted to make a call away from home..."

So glad I am not the only one who looks up disaster stuff on the Net...

But of course, I would expect nothing less of you. I read an article in the LA Times just the other day about how you were doing the PBP thread with one of your fingers hanging by a single flap of skin, missing a fingernail to boot. Miraculous recovery!
