I am going golfing for the first time ever this afternoon. Some guys from work are going and asked if I wanted to try it. Two of us have never golfed before. I took an "intro to golf" class about 13 years ago in college to add a unit, but that is the last time I've picked up a golf club.

Lord protect anything alive or breakable out there....

Golf is such that you do really well the first time, at least well enough to get you back. But you always do really crappy once the beginners luck wears off.

I have come to the conclusion that it is more about getting drunk and driving the little cars around than getting the ball in the whole. I tend to have a lot more fun when I look at it that way.

I never did well the first time. I can putt pretty solidly, but I can never get the ball off my clubs right.

Well, I did get a triple bogey on one hole! Had a *couple* nice drives. My putting stinks. Most of my shots went off to the right. I did win $10 on one hole on a bet.

I found I can't follow the ball out that far - I lose it in the sky. I wonder if my being partially colorblind has anything to do with it, or my vision just isn't that good to begin with.....

We played 9 holes and I didn't keep score. We had to play best ball sometimes to keep moving and not hold anyone up.

I only lost one ball, though. I feel pretty good about that.

I'd go again just for fun, but I'm not going to take it up as a hobby. If I had any talent or started younger, maybe. But I don't and I am approaching 40, and if I can't follow the ball out in the distance, I don't think I'll be playing too much golf in the future.

I tuned into the local news at 6 just to see if there had been any golf-related tragedies. When they didn't report anything, I figured you couldn't have done too badly.

I used to walk with a friend while he played golf. I enjoyed the stroll through the course just as much of not more than I would have had I actually bothered to play...
