The Kings head into Dallas next, after finding new and creative ways to lose to teams that shouldn't have been able to win even with Donaghy officiating. It's like watching a western where the lead wagon has to try and ford the stream with a wheel missing. And it's LEAP DAY. I'm not sure, but I don't think that's known for being lucky.

We've lost to Atlanta, we've lost to Miami and somewhere along the line I think we've lost our pride.

Dallas is not the team to play when you're trying to regain some kind of team identity. And playing Dallas in Dallas is definitely not a good idea.

This was the year we were supposed to right the ship, regain an identity and turn things around, at least in little ways.

We haven't done any of those things. The team seems to be falling apart, Coach Theus seems to be sprouting gray hairs by the minute, and it just doesn't look like a team out there.

Maybe it's been some weird bug going around. Maybe the team we see take the court tomorrow will be the team of heart and hustle, energy and excitement. And maybe I'll wake up to see a forest full of money trees in my front yard.

The game discussion thread is here.

The PBP thread is here.

Anybody can be a fan of a winning team. I'm amazed so many of us are still around to talk about what is rapidly becoming a very disappointing team. I love the Kings but it's a little hard to keep up the enthusiasm right now.

But, nevertheless, GO KINGS!!!

Well, I don't think any of us thought we were going to make too big a splash this year. Although, its sort of like knowing that your grandfather is dying and you think your ready, until he dies, and then the reality of it sets in.

I don't envy Reggie. There are a lot of problems with this team. Pieces that don't fit together. I suspect that Reggie is being forced to showcase some players for future movement, and at the expense of other players who probably deserve more playing time.

Up until lately, the team, whether it won or lost seemed to be playing hard. Recently, they seem at times to be sleep walking. The spark seems to be gone. Preferential treatment of some individual players can be a reason. In the one game where Martin sat for almost 7 minutes, while the game went south, I thought to myself that they were tanking the game. I hope not. It is what it is, and we may not like it in the short term, but we can hope for some reward in the long term. An idea thats certainly up for debate.

I didn't have unrealistic expectations but, based on what I saw when the kids were getting the majority of minutes and the offense seemed to be flowing through Martin, we were at least going to be fun to watch.

I have liked Reggie Theus since 1985. I loved watching Reggie the player and at the beginning of the year I was arguably one of the biggest supporters of him as a coach. BUT right now there's little difference between our team this year and last year. Players are disgruntled, there are conflicts that definitely need to be worked on and resolved between players and the head coach. That's not good.

If even Kevin Martin, who is widely known as one of the most quiet, reserved and well-mannered players is unhappy, then there's a bigger problem here than I thought.

But, like fans of other teams in less than perfect situations, I guess there's no much we can do but, like the drivers on the freeway passing the wreckage, say a prayer and hope for the best.

tho watching this team brings about wanting to hang yourself, its nothing like driving by an accident. this team can be discusting to watch. we had some good wins but our record is one loss away from repeating last years natural disaster we called a season.

Well, except that we're learning Garcia can be a valuable contributor, one thing that didn't really happen last year. We found a capable backup PG (maybe a starter, maybe just a placeholder), and there's a glimmer of hope with Hawes. Still, there's plenty of ugly here to go around. Martin seems about the same, although he started the year on a hotter streak. Salmons hasn't really improved the team for the better at this point in time. Unfortunately, I can't see much of the team here on the east coast, so I have to mostly rely on what I'm getting here at kingsfans.com, beacon of all things Sacramento. ;)
