Donte Greene = Next G.Wallace?

true... but wouldnt the coaches know when they see him play in practice?

Nope. If you really want to give him a fair shot, you make room for him to sink or swim in actual game situations, not practice.

We may not see it on the court but the coaching staff is there during practice, they should know if he is worth playing regadless of who is in front of him on the depth chart...

They don't play games most of the time in practice. They work on various aspects of their games, run drills, etc. The coaching staff may have them break into squads to work on specific plays or defensive schemes (you can quit laughing ;) ), but they don't really put a player through his paces the way good old on-the-court-during-a-game time does.

Coaches can tell some things, like whether or not a player just isn't smart enough to get with the program (which is what happened to one of our players in the recent past) but when you have someone you know has skills but needs a lot of work, you won't be able to gauge his effectiveness against his teammates, all of whom will come to know his game as well if not better than the coaches.
