Donte Greene being called back to Kings

Well it appears that Geoff may have something up his sleeve...

Greene is apparently being recalled back to team

"I caught up with Petrie in the tunnel during the second quarter, and he confirmed that he is recalling Donte Greene from the D-League after the Reno Bighorns' game Saturday afternoon. I'm not sure I understand his rationale, though, given that the 6-foot-10 small forward has had one exceptional game and three so-so performances. If Donte isn't dominating the D-League, what's to be gained by bringing him back? I guess the idea is to keep him around the team and to create some playing time. But in place of Cisco Garcia? Salmons? Thompson? I don't see it, but then, I don't get paid Petrie's big bucks, either ..."

Sorry if old but i didn't see any other posts about it

Hopefully a trade that opens up some PT for Donte and other youngsters

That is what I was thinking. Or maybe someone has a minor injury we don't know about? Or maybe Petrie knows about an impending natural disaster in Reno? :p Hard to know what is going on, but trade speculation is probably the best guess right now....

I hope and pray. Its time to start defining the direction of this team, so that who ever the coach is, he doesn't need a road map.

I'm not sure Donte being recalled means anything more than he's being recalled. When he was first sent to the D-League the story I heard is he was being sent down to play 3 games I believe, so he could get some playing time. Then he was coming back. I believe this was the plan from the start.

I heard that story on the radio on a few different shows, and I believe also on the news on TV.

Yeah, somewhere on here was a note in an article (maybe the Kings blog) about how the plan all along was to bring Donte back after 5 games -- he's not back becuase of performance. He's back because that was the plan. I'm wiht Amick in not underdstanding the purpose of the plan -- you send him down, then bring him back to a situation where nothing has changed and there still aren't minutes -- but maybe they just wanted to get a look at him playing major minutes somewhere so they could have Coachie pick apart his game and work with him on the weaknesses or some such.

Probably wanted to send him down to get some PT during a time when the Kings did not have many days off/practices. Now that the schedule lightens up a bit and there will be more practices, bring him back. Also, maybe they were considering sitting him in street clothes so other players (K9, Shelden Williams) could be showcased a little. WHy keep him in street clothes if he can get some PT in the DL?

Or maybe the Kings wanted to see how the D-league team would be towards one of their players and the potential for it to be useful.

Yeah, I heard that as well on KHTK when he first was sent to Reno.
