Donatas Montejunas?

Bricklayer

Don't Make Me Use The Bat
...is still available out there as a restricted free agent after his injury + dispute with Houston.

I have no specific proposal for how we'd free the roster spot for him, but with Willie's deterioration it has had me pondering what sorts of NBA-ready long frontcourt players with offensive game are available out there. Of course Donatas is not known for defense, but before the injury this was an impressive looking young stretch 4. 7 foot tall, with both post game AND three point range. Really a more mature/NBA ready version of the package Skal was flashing. Then last year happened, and...who knows.

Truly don't know about the injury, or if he is rugged enough for Joerger. But if him coming off injury meant you could sign him to a reasonable deal, in the superheated contract market today you might be able to secure a bargain. Obviously has the Balkans thing for Vlade to be aware of him.

Donatas is from Lithuania :p

He actually was pretty solid defender at some point, though mostly at center. That's how idea of replacing Howard appeared in the first place before Capela emergence last year, as at some point Dwight missed a bit of time, but defense barely dropped with Monte there, while offense was much more fluid.

But Donatas has prolonged back problems. Those usually don't go away. And as far as bargains go, that's a reason he's still out there: everybody scared to give him more than year, he made a dumb thing of not accepting QO and becoming UFA in 2017 summer, while not making an effort to find place in Europe, so now he's stuck.

Not so sure he's better than the guys we have at the 4-5....and with back problems seems like a no go

If he's healthy, we should roll the dice on him. Maybe offer 2 years $20million with a TO? Not sure how salaries would work....but he's definitely worth the gamble.

Its early but despite all our bigs we need help.
Im not sure about Donatas but damn I would sure like to help Philadelphia out with their big logjam. Noel specifically.
