Agreed. Domas probably returns what Zubac does or maybe more if he’s making $20M.So much easier to stomach Zubac at 2/40.5 vs Sabonis 2/94
oh wow, bold prediction at 12:00pm.
Really can’t disagree with this. Something tells me the org is going hybrid rebuild after hopefully landing a top 3 pick. Everyone knows DDR and Westbrook and Lavine can’t be part of this going forward, but stuck with Lavine, but Domas does have to go in the Summer. He’s going to keep this team in the play in race and no more. Need a couple of years at least to hit it out of the park in the draft. Domas needs to be on a team that thinks it can make a playoff run.Came across a KC clip yesterday and while I don't often agree with him, was hard to not agree here.
He was ripping into Perry about the direction. This is the same Kings BS we've dealt with for years.
Do you want to rebuild? Sell Sabonis
Do you want to try and get better? Go buy players.
But doing nothing is not a tactic. What we paid for Sabonis or Demar is a sunk cost. We all seemed to understand that when it came to selling Keon to dump Schroder. But when it comes to Demar/Sabonis we can't grasp that?
Look at the cap space teams this summer. The amount of teams are shrinking, and the want for a player like Sabonis who doesn't defend the rim and can't get his own in crunch time (making 45+ a year) is not going to change.
I appreciate Sabonis, but the time to move off him was yesterday. The time to pick a direction was 1 year ago when we moved Fox. But we all know where this is going with Hunter and refusing to sell. Pray for Peterson, cut the tank short, and back to the play-ins until Peterson leaves in 5-6 years.
If what they were offered at the deadline wasn't enough, I don't think its going to change in the summer.. Teams are desperate now, in the summer they move to the draft/Free Agency.Really can’t disagree with this. Something tells me the org is going hybrid rebuild after hopefully landing a top 3 pick. I really think teams are looking at that contract and just aren’t buying he can lead them to a deep playoff run.

I'm now fully convinced the plan is going to be get a top 5 pick, and go for it next year. They are going to pray for Peterson, but be happy with Kingston Flemming or Mikel Brown Jr when we inevitably aren't in the top 3. Maybe Demar is gone due to cap reasons, Hunter will get an extension. Next year we will be sold -
Flemming/The next FA Schroder
LaVine/Monk
Hunter/Nique
Keegan/Cardwell
Sabonis/Maxime
And they will say look kings fans, explosive young PG, shooters around Sabonis, a real forward with Keegan, a younger bench with fan favorite Monk still around. We don't need a multi year tank, we already had the pieces! Upgraded beam team! And we will have another 35 win season while Vivek raises season tickets prices another 12%. rinse and repeat. Wish I wasn't so pessimistic but we've seen this too many times as kings fans.
I don't get the urgency to move LaVine. He's trash but hes not hurting the tank, hes helping it. And he expires next year, we should be thinking of buying him out by this time next year.James Ham said the Kings were going to have to use draft capital to move their players with big contracts. If true, I’d rather wait for LaVine’s deal to expire or use his expiring deal in another trade this summer
