Um, no.
You wouldn’t take Steve Nash over Kobe Bryant, would you?
Swipa brings a needed element to the team that Tyrese doesn’t have. His speed and ability to create and get any type of shot he wants at any time is super important. Especially at the end of games. And becomes even more important in the postseason.
The 1998 - 2004 era KINGS were missing that exact thing — until they landed Mike Bibby. Which took them to another level. Swipa has the ability to be a closer. And dependable 1on1 scoring threat when buckets are needed most.
Swipa is more in the mold of Ja Morant and Donovan Mitchell. And that type of player is more valuable than a double-digit assist guy that doesn’t have the 1on1 skillset that Fox, Mitchell and Morant each have.
With Swipa and Domas, the KINGS essentially have two players that need to be double-teamed when the game comes down the biggest moment. Tyrese didn’t give them that element to the same degree.
No chance I’m keeping Tyrese over Swipa. IMO the KINGS made the right choice, if indeed there was a choice to be made.
