Does Playoff Standing Really Matter

I'm starting to wonder if the final standing really matters ?

Our best case scenario is #5.

This means that regardless of what happens we have to play the Spurs AND the Suns on the road. In the East we'd have to play (probably) Heat or Pistons, again on the road.

For all the support and love we give the Kings, is it really realistic for them to win THREE playoff rounds on the road against these teams ??

With work they can get past Mavs or Sonics on the road in Round 1, but I don't see them doing that 4 times (4 road series).

In fact I don't know that many teams have won all of their playoff series on the road. Houston in 95, but they had a good season with a bad ending so it's not really similar to our situation. Not sure how many other times, but not many.

Yes we need an easier team in the first round, because it better our chance plus it gives us more time to get the team to gel when we get Bobby and Brad back.

It matters but at this point and as I said in another thread, what matters more is we make it, clinch it and give some of our work horses like Bibby a few games to rest.

Remember the Micky Mouse Club? At this stage consider this Thursday "Anything Can Happen Day." No telling what the other teams will do, what the match ups will be and no telling when Miller and Bobby will be back or what kind of shape they will be in.

Play the games one at a time and try to win each game. Worring about seeidng and match ups is pointless.

Injuries and upsets can change the whole landscape of the playoffs. Worry about getting there first, then anything can happen!

I'm sick of worrying how many games we win or what our playoff seed is. I could care less at this point (as long as we're in....of course). Let's face it, NO team we play in the playoffs in general aren't capable of beating us. The great thing is there is no team in the NBA that realistically I feel we can't win a series against. "Finals or bust", we'll have to play a hard team somewhere along the way and from the looks of things it could come sooner than later.

Bottom line, in years past we've gotten pretty good seeding due to our excellent regular season record. This year, little different and I think it would be great to get one of the big three (SA, Phoenix, Seattle) on their heels and kick the crap out of them in the first round.

I guess it's just nice to see april rolling around again and the SUSPENSE BUILDING. I love this game.....no wait I hate it........LOL. Anyways, I'm not panicking, just sick back and enjoy the show because there's nothing any of us can do about it. Trust our Kings............they've been here before. I think the Kings best case scenario is to avoid the Spurs (assuming Duncan is back for the playoffs) until the WCF. Playing the Mavs and the Suns on the road in the first two rounds would be difficult, sure, but both of those teams are much more vulnerable to a defeat in a playoff series at the hands of this Kings team than the Spurs with Duncan. And, since the Spurs would have to win two rounds to get to the WCF as well, who knows what happens to them along the way. Maybe they have a couple of injuries in the playoffs just to get to the WCF.

Before the Duncan injury, I was hoping the Kings might slip to #6 and a first round matchup with the Sonics (in all likelihood), then a second round matchup with the Suns (in all likelihood). Now that the Suns should win the WCF with Duncan out, I'd like for the Kings to hold onto the 5 spot.

again, im just ready for the regular season to be over...

If we can clinch a spot ANY spot...ill just feel so much better about the whole situation...not to mention it'll actually get someone like Mike rest...but when will we clinch a spot??

until then we have to take it one game at a time...try not to look forward..its too aggrevating...its hard not to i know...but we have to concentrate on winning each game or as many games as we can in our next 11....pretty much every game for the rest of the season is a 'must win'
