Does anyone else feel this way???

Man...I am really struggling with my emotions about the Kings this year. It's not like my life is affected or anything...but man...it's tough this year. I also didn't expect a championship, but I was hoping for SOMETHING. I know it's a new roster and everything...and it's still only the 1st 15 games, but I don't believe I've seen much heart from this team yet. Mabye my expectations were too high. I will NEVER jump ship from the Kings...I am a rabid fan and will always be a rabid fan. I've been one since they got here...but this year is really tough. I kinda feel like we're underacheiving. It's also hard for me because I no longer have the feel of what Sacramento is feeling like. In Detroit now...used to live in Yuba City. It's really hard to get a feel for how things are "really" going. I'm taking my youth group to the Pistons/Kings game Dec 14...and I don't expect much. I will be cheering at the top of my lungs for them...but I have a feeling my record of attending games at the Palace will be 1-2. What's going on? It is just a new lineup? Is it youth/inexperience? Is it Rick? Is there a lack of leadership on the team? Is it just that Peja is the biggest softie I've ever seen on the basketball court (I think I've got tougher guys on the 7th grade boys basketball team I coach)? I guess this is a depressed rant...anyone else feel like this? Or can anyone give me some insight/perspective?

It Is What It Is .... huh ???

King's are a different team ...

With that comes change/struggle/acceptance ... hopefully - SUCCESS

No ... you're not alone ... but, that's the way it is.

as an example - look at the Lakers (years past to NOW - talk about a Hekyl and Hyde or ONE HECKUVA ROLLER COASTER RIDE)

They'll be back ... so will the Kings :)

I'd be more upset if I weren't worried about the Chargers right now.

i felt the same way when i watched the warriors/kings game. it seems they lack something..the killer instinct..it's like with every possession i'm like please score...while on the other hand with the warriors they're controlled and it's like they can and will score. that's not the Kings i'm used to. before no matter what the lead (behind by 10 or more) King's are well poised and will come back and win and more than likely blow off most of the teams.

i'm still keeping my faith though, Peja just got injured and we missed his 20+ points per game. everybody contributed (Bmiller,Rahim,Wells, Bibby)..the bench could have help..but i'm hoping they'll be able to keep it together and be consistent..and start some winning streaks..

Go KIngs!

I meant Jekyl ... but you all already knew that

For me the problem is nearly every team in the league has at least one player on their team better than anyone on the Kings. Meanest thing a coach ever said to me was "ummm, I think somebody told you that you are better than you are..." Ouch.

We're not that talented.

Houston - Mcgrady, Yao (ummm- Jon Barry????)
Dallas - Nowitzki, (maybe Terry/Howard, too)
Seattle - Allen
LA - Kobe, Odom
Clippers - Brand, Magette
SA - Duncan, Ginobli, Parker
Minny - KG
Miam - Shaq - Wade
Indiana - Oneal/Artest
Detroit - Wallace, Billups, Hamilton
Milwaukee - Redd
Philly - Webber/Iverson
Orlando - Francis, Howard
Phoenix - Nash, Stoudamire, Marion
Memphis - Gasol, maybe Jones?
Golden State - Davis/Richardson

I'm leaving out a bunch others, but do ya get the rub? With the exception of Mr. Barry, I think all of these guys are better than anyone in Sacto jersey these days. I saw Geoff Petrie score 45 points against Sydney Wicks and the #1 UCLA Bruins when Princeton and "coachie" nearly upset them a hundred years ago, losing 76-75. I thought he was a God then. I don't think Petrie is having a good year. I think the squad he formed lacks NBA talent by today's standards.

to me. That's what hurts.

no. you're not the only one that feels this way. this team is garbage; our shooting guard is the leading rebounder. 8 a game. not taking away from our beloved point guard, but mike bibby should not be the leading scorer. our assists are down, our ppg are down and we have yet to make it over a .500 win %. i think the "next 10 games" we see will tell us all we need to know. if we don't go at least 6-4 it's time to hang it up!

So after 2 months, if we don't go 6-4 next ten - you're saying, "done, time to go to the post-office". :)

So, that means, what? We'll lose to all those teams (along with other obvious ones left out) most of the time for the rest of the season? ;)

Anyways, there'll be another shake-up if things keep going the way they've been with the team. Which I'm not sure on yet.

Being sub .500 through 25 games -- nearly 1/3 of the season, with more home games than road games, and relatively injury free to boot, would certainly be saying something. Likely that this is about as good as we are. It may depend on your definition of "done". Still make the playoffs? Sure. Maybe. Still be special? Very doubtful. And after that question is answered, we can move rapidly on to the let's change something phase. Having a veteran team good enough to sneak in as the #8 seed is just dumb mediocre boring bball. Make moves to get good, or to get young, but don't pull a Knicks lurking around at the edges of the playoffs because you are too chicken to ever really rebuild.

It's what was said by Tyrant. "Hang it up" - equals done, I'd think.

For me, I'm just not writing off the team (probably any team) after one month into the season. That's all. :)

You have to wonder if all the off the court turmoil is affecting the teams play. I have never seen so much negative energy in and around the Sacramento Kings the last few years. Player tifts, arena issues, Detroit videos, etc., etc.

Hopefully a positive swing comes soon!

My problem is that people generally aren't happy unless we have 5 guys out there that can light it up on any given night. We DON'T need that!!

I really would love to see this next year (or this year) bench guys that can thrive in our system a.k.a. Pollard type, or a BJ type. Even Hedo of 3 years ago was better than what we have here and now. We might even have to trade one of our starters for this bench guy which would be totally fine with me if it makes our team better as a whole.

How about this lineup next year..

C Miller (our high post guy that runs the Prinston offense)
PF Skinner (our defensive big guy/rebounder/garbage points)
SF ------ (Trade Peja for a rebounding/semi-scoring/decent 3pt threat)
SG Martin (He is our defensive athlete that can shoot the ball when needed)
PG Bibby? (Not sure if we need a guy with Bibby's price tag if Miller is the one the offense goes through)

i think most fans feel this way.this team has alot more talent than its able to display on a consistant basis, for one reason or another.Gonna be a long season, changes are coming.(hoping for the best)

Maybe the expectations were just a tad too high. This team really isnt that great and its gonna take some getting use to. Some posters here kept their expectations a little lower and the result was just not being as disappointed as the people who were pumped up to see this great new team. Reality sucks my friends.

Just not in Sacramento*L*

^^At some point, that just isn't funny OR appropriate.

Once again last night, Gavin tried to reiterate that the organization has NEVER said anything about moving the team, and they haven't. They certainly aren't going to move a team because of one poor season.

Face it, fellow Kings fans. THIS team, as currently structured, might not even make the playoffs. And if that happens, a LOT of fans will simply fade into the sunset. BUT NOT ALL OF THEM.

Yes, it hurts to see our team struggle because - for a lot of you - you've never seen it before. If you find yourself drifting away because you just don't feel drawn to the style of play, etc. then that's what will happen. You can't control it. You either still feel like a fan ... or you don't.

If, on the other hand, you've been through the low points before, you know that this isn't the same. This team is NOT going to be the cellar-dwelling team we saw when they first came to Sacramento. And, believe me, things will eventually get better.

I think people need to realize that right now this isn't the Kings of 2002 or 2003 or even 2004. It's a new team, with just a couple of familiar faces. No one should feel they have to apologize for the occasional lack of faith or outpouring of frustration. It's part and parcel of being a sports fan.

In my case, I was hoping for more but realistically expecting much less.

We're just gonna have to wait for the plot to develop because we can't just skip to the end and read the final page...

We're on the same wave-length VF ...

I just posted something very similar to this at another site.

Basically I stated that the King's are AN AVERAGE TEAM ...

... and that there are 6-8 teams better then them in the Western Conference and they'll be lucky to make the #7 or #8 spot.

San Antonio, Memphis, Dallas, Phoenix, Golden State and LA Clippers are CLEARLY better then the King's.

Minnesota (TBD) ... coming soon to a station near you

Seattle and Denver ... will all be fighting for the #7 or #8 spot.

True, we haven't played all the above teams, but I don't need a tree to fall on me (especially after what I've witnessed these past 15-games) to know the King's will do against those teams.

Yeah...I agree with ya...it's just that my emotions get REALLY involved with my Sacramento Kings. I know most if not all of us on this board are on the same cruise...I mean row boat. (at least right now) I went through the lean times...but it's so hard to let go of what "could've been." This IS a rebuilding year...as has been the last couple of years. I guess all I want to see is HEART and some sort of competitive spirit this year. I haven't seen either as of yet...Here's to hoping!

but it's so hard to let go of what "could've been."

Yep, and I don't think we'll ever get over it entirely.

I guess all I want to see is HEART and some sort of competitive spirit this year.

Me, too, bigdog!!!

At least we have Kingsfans.com now to share our feelings, including the angst, misery, etc. I can remember back when I was one lone voice in my office, subject to unending and continuing ridicule over being a Kings fan...

We're here for each other!

;)

all i know is come late december if we are still hanging around .500 expect some drastic changes.......

Based on the way the team is currently structured and the teams we're facing, come late December there will have to be a lot of improvement for us to be "still hanging around .500"...

i'd rather see alot of heart and hustle out there than some mediocre playing. i love it when the subs come in and play with alot of energy. if anybody remembers back when j thrill and company came into town. the bench would come in and really energize the arena with their energy play. the excitement and joy i got from seeing them dive for the balls, rebound like they give a damn about the game!!

I think we all would. The problem isn't what we'd like to see, but where it's going to come from.

^ and ^^ I think I touched a little on that last night. I think all fans can ask for is a team that puts out 110% effort. If we have a sub .500 record but our team is jumping on loose balls, diving on the floor, scrap'n for steals then thats exciting play and although maybe not enough to win would be showing 110% effort. We really are not seeing that now and thats what I think is the biggest problem Kings fans have.

Not sure why it's happening, Coach, Combo of Players or whatever. Hopefully this is short lived

Not to belabor the point.....
