Do you think the Kings have a team chemistry problem?

In another thread, a poll was started that assumed there's a problem with the chemistry on the Kings and wanted people to vote for what they thought was the main reason.

What the poll didn't provide was a choice for those who don't think there's a particular problem with team chemistry - especially based on the description of "team chemistry" given by the OP.

For that reason, I'm giving those people the opportunity to have their say as I didn't see any chemistry problems and did, in fact, actually see the opposite.
 
I haven't seen any chemistry problems at this point - I see some payers who aren't performing well and may not like being pulled if they aren't contributing. Big difference. I want them to be upset at being pulled. I also want that to drive them to perform better.

Whether this (or LOTS of losses) might lead to some problems later, who knows. But for right now, no.
 
Off the court, no, I don't think there are problems. Guys seem to generally like eachother and are supportive. The whole Bibby-Artest feud is overblown.

On the court, big issues. This team just doesn't complement eachother well. It's like trying to mash the wrong pieces together into a jigsaw puzzle.

I guess I should have clarified more. This poll was a direct result of the Purple Reign poll, which presumed there was a team chemistry problem of some magnitude because he - Purple Reign - didn't see the guys on the bench cheering enough for the guys on the court.

It's not about the composition of the team. It's about whether or not the guys are supportive of each other more than anything else.

I voted No. I think they get along well as a group of guys. On the court its the perfect mix of skills though. Just what it seems like to me. Season is early though and things can always change.
 
I said on the other poll that I didn't think there was a problem. We thought the remarks by several of the team members regarding the Mike Bibby--Larry David comparison said a lot. P.S. Last night the Warriors team stood up the last minute--the Dallas team sporadically and the entire last four minutes. I just don't think that means too much. Annie.
 
Personally, I have been very disturbed by the facial expressions of the training staff during the games. They all seem to be team cancers.

On a similar note, Slamson seems to express less enthusiasm than in years past.

I am so deeply troubled by all of this I have not been able to sleep at night.
 
I don' think tghere is an issue as it stands. I think we are just so untalanted w/ the group we have out ther ethat it makes us look bad.

It might be another story when Bibby/Artest are back. Artest tries to do too much out there, when another player can fill in and take the tough shot you will see Artest forcing it. I can see the Kings trying to move Artest right before his suspension is up for some young talent, or a 2008 draft pick, and a salary which comes off at the end of the year.

If Artest isn't here when Bibby is back I wouldn't be so worried about him fitting in. Bibby does well at running a team, and does not force the issue as much as Artest does.

Finally, someone noticed the same thing. Slamson spends more time with his back to the team and most of his time facing the fans. It's as if he doesn't care anymore. He cares more for the fans - maybe a girl friend, eh? - than the Kings. It's not even subtle. Maybe he should be replaced by Monty. Have the Maloofs taken their eye off the ball?

Have you noticed how their head of security sometimes watches the game? It's almost as if he is daring someone to jump out on the court and ask for an autograph or something similarly sinister.

Then there are the occasions that began last year where the shot clock would not start on time. Haven't seen it yet this year but it bears careful concern, All those seconds add up and over the course of a season each player may have to play two or three extra minutes and we all know what that does to the energy necessary for defensive effort much less the extra wear and tear on knees. For all we know, this lack of caring on the part of the shot clock operator may have been a major contributor to SAR's knee problems. And pity Hawes who will soon be subjected to the same lack of spirit.

If a fan can't sleep, how about a team and its coach?

Oh golly gee whilikens. Can we survive this? :eek:

WHO the hell does Moore think he is? You are lucky the Kings were dumb enough to sign you to a ginormous deal by your LOW standards.

You shoot 20 footers when its not your range and miss all of them, miss layups, cant catch a ball to save your life, cant rebound to save your life, and you complain about not getting enough shots? Then you tell the media that Coach Theus NEEDS TO FIX THAT?

LOL@ "I don't think I was brought here to just play defense". This guy is a clown. He can't catch the ball, he can't get any offensive rebounds, he hasn't shown anything to make people think he'll score when he DOES get the ball, and then we start winning a little bit and this guy comes out and demands more shots to the media? I mean he's a starter, what more can he ask for? If you're playing big minutes and you're the type of player he is than find a way to get your shots-catch the ball. Get offensive rebounds. DO SOMETHING. How can he blame Reggie for this? That's BS and he's a clown IMO.
 
It's no big deal. He didn't BLAME Reggie for anything. He said Reggie needs to work on the number of assists the team is getting, which is pretty true.

Granted, the last sentence was a little dumb, but it's not like he's insisting on being the #1 option.

There really isn't any need to erect really big mountains out of little teeny molehills at every opportunity.
 
True, but combining that with his apparent back-and-forth with Theus on the bench doesn't add up in my mind. But still, too early to tell if/how this affects the team.

Asked about the Kings' low assist total, Moore said: "Coach (Reggie Theus) is going to have to fix that. The last couple games, I've only had four shots, and I didn't think I was brought here just to play defense."

Moore, who led the league in field-goal percentage last season and averaged 9.8 points and 6.4 field-goal attempts in New Jersey, entered play having hit just 7 of 17 shots. In the previous two games, he had hit 3 of 6.

geez I hate we signed this guy. My pet peeve with him is when he pumps his chest when he does actually catch the ball and dunks it as if he is king of the world. Now Lebron did it the other night and he deserves to. But not a guy who averages 4pts and 3rebs in 24 min and has 8 less block than Brad Miller. I'd rather have Jabari Smith or 7 and sum change LOL.
 
SAR's agent is now angry about Theus' treatment of his client:

Abdur-Rahim's longtime agent, Aaron Goodwin, said he's incensed with the way Theus is treating him. Abdur-Rahim played a combined 32 minutes in the first two games but has played a combined 12 minutes in the four games since. Most notably, Goodwin questioned Theus' decision to play Abdur-Rahim just two minutes against Seattle on Tuesday and one minute against Minnesota on Saturday.

"The coach yanks him out after a minute, and that's not the way you treat veteran players," Goodwin said. "How can he show what he can do if you put him in a game and yank him out after one trip down the court? He played with a broken wired jaw (in 2005) when he was told not to. He's earned this from Sacramento, and this guy does not deserve to be treated the way he's being treated."


Told of Goodwin's comments, Theus said he's simply looking to find the right way to use his roster.


"We're a team trying to find combinations that are going to get it done, and I'm playing the guys who I think are playing the best," Theus said.

Rediculous... SAR's knee is still recovering and when he did get minutes he was terrible.

My god Kenny has been the least problematic and he was getting hated on all last year for being a problem(probably rightfully so though, he was unhappy but maybe he got a little too much criticism). Mikki is complaining about shots when he's done nothing to show he can hit them, now SAR's agent is complaining he's not playing and it's only 6 games into the season.
 
Well we knew this would come up, we tons of "power" forwards so someone isnt going to be happy. SAR does seem to play well against utah so i wouldnt mind seeing him play more tonight.
 
Reggie was (is) always going to need to experiment a bit with the line up and the minutes, especially given the absence of Mike & Ron.

Lets hope he stays focused and doesnt pander to the egos of some of these players. Sounds like he has the right frame of mind if his reaction is anything to go by.

Which gets back to the original question. Are the Kings struggling with a chemistry problem. The answer is an absolute yes......but that may not be a bad thing right now.

What I see Reggie doing is the beginning of a long process of weeding out the bad element on this squad. Starting with playing time. I believe the core of this team and an establish rotation is beginning to form and those on the outside looking in are feeling the squeeze.

Udrih - IN
Thomas - IN
Hawes - IN
Moore - TBD
Watkins - TBD
Shareef - OUT
Greene - OUT

It's still very early, but we are hearing some grumbling and that confirms to me why we don't see much bench chemistry during the games.
