Dionte Christmas

Dionte Christmas is on our Summer League Roster

After going undrafted last year, he went to play basketball in Israel playing for Happoel Afula averaging 19.5 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.9 assissts in 30 minutes. I think that Christmas is a very solid player with good range.

Do you think that he would fit in with the Kings who could really need good shooters?

if he is related to Lloyd Christmas im willing to offer him a max contract.

Who doesn't drive around with a loaded gun in their car these days? As quick a response that our admirable police force respond, it's never as quick as pulling out a 9mm and defending yourself and not becoming a victim. So I don't really put too much credence in that article/phony arrest. What exactly was he doing wrong there? The 2nd amendment is our gun permit.

I could kinda care less about the gun, since it was Speights' car and gun, and he probably didn't know it was there. He still deserves some sort of knucklehead award for trying to drive when he doesn't really know how ("driving erratically"), and doesn't have a license.

Speights comes out looking quite the idiot too, but that's not our problem.

Or if he's related to Joe Christmas. Any William Faulkner fans in the house? Too abrupt a jump from low-brow to high-brow? Anyone...........? :p

I'd even be inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt on the "driving erratically" portion. He was pulled over for "driving erratically in a car with heavily tinted windows". Which generally is code for, " driving with heavily tinted windows". It looks bad when a cop searches a car and arrests a guy after pulling him over for something as petty as tinted windows. If he was really driving erratically, how come he didn't also get a moving violation?

Anyways, his worst crime is driving without a license. Not a genius move, but hardly anything that should heavily affect a personnel decision. Just like Sylven Landsesberg not attending art class doesn't matter too much to me either.

Showing off, are we? Let me see, Hmmm! Faulkner! Isn't he the guy that invented the German dive bomber? ;)

Really? I've interviewed a pretty large number of job candidates in my life, and while I realize that jobs are pretty different from each other, for me, driving without a license, rather than getting a ride/taking a cab/taking public transit would be a real deal killer. Not because it's a heinous act in and of itself, but just because it shows incredibly poor judgement. How little sense does one have to demonstrate before it's a deal killer for an NBA player?

Driving without a license is not a deal breaker for me. Not sure why it would be unless there's a lot more background on the guy flaunting the rules and being irresponsible. I guess what's most bizarre is why a 23 year old kid didn't have a license in the first place.

If that has a reasonable explanation and/or he has a license now I'm inclined to give a three time all conference player who graduated college the benefit of the doubt.

If I'm not mistaken Dionte Christmas can be a 6'5 Daniel Gibson. I don't think there's a better 13th / 14th man option for the Kings this off season.
