Whether they leave or not, they're handling this like punks. The fans who never left, the mayor, the city council, David Taylor, and ICON deserve better than to be left in the dark like this. The Maloofs are businessmen. If they were leaving, they would have left years ago. They could have easily announced that they have already filed for relocation, but they had that extended. This is just my opinion, but I believe they do want to stay in Sacramento and the extension is to see what happens with Taylor/ICON and Anaheim.

Put yourselves in the Maloofs shoes for a minute. Would you wait and see what happens with Taylor/ICON knowing what happened with the previous proposal on the table (Convergence & Cal Expo) and not have a back up plan? We've been at this new arena issue for over 10 years. At some point you have to face reality and explore all other options, which the Maloofs have been honest about.

Just because Taylor/ICON was given a 90 day window, doesn't mean it has to be done by the 90th day. It could be done in 45 days.

Yes, it did take a few weeks for Taylor/ICON to receive the documents they requested, but we still need to do our part and show our support. Buy a ticket to the next Kings game. Encourage your family, friends, co-workers, etc. to go too. Write a letter to the city council and MSE about how you feel about keeping the Kings in town and your support for a new arena.

If you're going to be negative about this, you're only pushing them away more.

I will remain to keep a positive view on this and until a deal is officially announced, they're still our Sacramento Kings.

Maybe the Maloofs could handle this better, but if as you put it, they're acting like punks right now, I'd have to say the city council and mayor(prior to KJ), have acted like punks for the last decade.

Also, the Maloofs are on the NBA schedule, and the NBA deadline for filing is 3/1. The city new this, KJ new this, but they procrastinated and didn't get this done by the deadline the Maloofs and NBA work with. Not the Maloofs fault. The whole process of selecting the ICON group should have happened months before it did, and the 90 days should have been up before 3/1, and the answer to whether or not a new arena is possible already known. It's irresponsible of the city to have dragged its feet like this.

I could give a strong opinion. Have you lived in this city and experienced its attitude up close and personal? I noticed it from day one when I moved. It's got a small town atmosphere and is not suited to paying with the big boys.

Sacramento is, and always has been, dual-natured:

It wants to play with the big boys and have all the nice things and be the talk of the town, but in its heart it fears the loss of that small-town soul and doesn't want to sacrifice what is required to get to the next level.

Maybe its just me, but the thing that has me so upset is how the Maloofs acted on Monday night. It was the same scared look that LeBron had on his face during his last game in Cleavland. I have a sickening feeling that their minds are already made up and they are just going through the motions at this point.

I heard and read interviews with the Maloofs from Monday night. They said a few weeks ago they would not comment on the arena issue any more. Stern said the same thing even longer ago. I understand the media's job is to keep pushing them for answers, but it's like "what part of NO don't you understand?"

The quotes I read and saw were the Maloofs saying they loved the fans of Sacramento and always have. I think if they'd gotten an encouraging word any time over the last couple of years, they wouldn't be leaving. I don't think hthey want to leave Sacramento. I think Sacramento has given them no choice, but to look to move.

A better product on the floor? Almost half the teams don't make the play-offs every year and some have spent or are spending a lot of years in that lower half. How many of them are moving? Besides, its a bogus argument, because we couldn't get an arena when the economy was boilng and the Kings were great.

Most fans want to blame the owners and I get that. It's easier to blame them. It just isn't true. This city could've stepped up any time in the last 15 years.

The Maloofs could never win in this town. If the Kings were doing great and the arena was selling out...they can afford to build it themselves. Team's bad, economy's bad so we can't help with an arena. There's was never been any in-between option.

I've gone to as many games as I can afford the last two years, especially. Despite the struggles I wanted to support my team and the players who were out there wearing "Sacramento" on their jerseys. I wanted the team and the owners to know I still cared and still do.

Yeah that's pretty much the vibe I got out of it, too. I think the only reason they filed for the extension is so they can bleed as much money out of fans for the rest of the season as possible based on giving them the false hope that there's a chance the team stays. Makes good sense from a purely monetary standpoint but from a moral and ethical standpoint it's a d-bag move of the highest order. I hope I'm proven wrong about that being what they're doing. Time will tell.
