Outgoing:
Gerald Wallace, SF ~ $9,500,000
Incoming:
Tayshaun Prince, SF ~ $9,500,000
Why for Detroit:
They have been rumored by the Bee at some level to be considering Artest. Artest is an expiring while Prince still has a couple more after this next one. Both players play the same position and both have their strengths, plus this would allow Detroit to have shed some salary if after this season it proves they need retooling.
Even with Maxiell and Williams being thrown in to make salaries work. It would make an interesting PR story with Parker/Williams as a couple with their partners playing for the other teams rival in their respective leagues.
Why not for Detroit:
One is it's Artest and two, I don't know what type of value they place on Maxiell.
Why for Sacramento:
It removes the distraction Artest brings and gets a young stud to replace him at his position.
Why not for Sacramento:
Unless bring Wallace back is a problem, I don't see a problem.
Why for/or not Charlotte:
If they aren't happy with Wallace as reported, Prince would seem to be a Larry Brown type player. Both make similiar money, Wallace's contract is longer but his wages according the "salary story teller site" remains the same while Prince's wages go up.
If this were to go down, the Kings would then have Salmons who for whatever reason is solid as a starter but ineffective off the bench were he would be playing in this scenerio. To offset this, the Kings could look to Phoenix to swap players.
Phoenix
Incoming:
John Salmons, SF ~ $5,104,000
Quincy Douby, SG ~ $1,427,000
Outgoing:
Leonardo Barbosa, SG ~ $6,100,000
Sacramento
Incoming:
Leonardo Barbosa, SG
Outgoing:
John Salmons, SF
Quincy Douby, SG
Why for Phoenix:
They have been reported that they are shopping Barbosa and when the Kings signed Salmons they were reported to have been interested. Douby should also be able to thrive with Nash as PG.
Why not for Phoenix:
Not sure if their interest in Salmons was true and seeing that he as a weakness off the bench, if it was true would it still apply.
Why for Sacramento:
Simply if the Kings get another starting SF, then Salmons becomes a liability. Barbosa has shown that he can be effective off the bench.
Why not for Sacramento:
Barbosa's contract is long and brother Maloof was quoted recently stating Douby would be a star. Don't know if that is nothing but cheap talk or if they really have high aspirations for him.
