Det/Miami-Win or go home

Detroit look much better this game. They've already got Shaq in foul trouble and their intensity is back. Wade has been quiet so far but it's still early. Nice job by Rip and Prince so far.

I would watch the game, but is anyone having problems watching the game? I am, it keeps breaking off for some reason. Anyone else experiencing this ?

No, it's been fine for me.

Big Ben with a "block" against Shaq that was called a jump ball. Not that I feel for Shaq getting bodied around, but Wallace jumped in the air, checked Shaq's shoulder with his hip, then made a play on the ball, and it was called a clean block. If Ben would've bumped into anyone other than Shaq, he'd have thrown that person into the third row of seating. The refs are letting the men play tonight...

Pistons up 4 with 7+ minutes left in the 3rd quarter.

Pistons with two chances to bump the lead up to 10, but neither Sheed nor Billups can hit open threes. Then Walker sticks a three on a 2 on 1, and the lead is down to 4. Heat with the ball.

Thank God, nice win.:D They play better when their backs are against the wall. It's still going to be hard to win in Miami but they can do it.

well, Pistons' season was saved by Prince (and to some extent, McDyess) on the offensive end, and by playing better defense. still, Miami has to be kicking themselves for not taking this game --- other than Prince and McDyess, not one Piston shot the ball well (Hamilton was 7-21, Billups 3-12). Unfortunately, other than Shaq and DWade, the rest of the Heat were not making shots, either. Top it off with DWade returning to earth somewhat to shoot just above 50% from the field, and the Pistons were able to extend the series.

And, if the Pistons can get back on their offensive game, I don't see any reason they can't win Game 6. Should certainly be interesting. I also don't think the Heat want to play a Game 7 in Detroit, so the pressure is on the Heat to close out this series at home in Game 6.

I replayed that about a dozen times on DVR; looked clean to me.

I agree that from the replay Ben got all ball. And I don't mind that it wasn't called a foul. But there was more body contact between those two men on that play (initiated by Ben, or so it seemed to me) than I have seen on any number of fouls called in these playoffs when offensive players are near the basket. I'd prefer to let 'em play.

Can someone please give me a good reason why Wade was sitting the last 2:30 or so?

Was he hurt? Did Pat 'give up'?

I have seen him, this season, pull some amazing performences @ the ends of games. How can you NOT have him on the floor. It was not like he was playing poorly (relitively, only 50ish percent).

According to Durham and Ramsey on the radio, he gave up.

Wow, and I was gaining so much respect for Riley these playoffs...
He was making excelent rotations, calling time-outs on time, using the hack-a-x the most ingeniously I have ever seen it used, great gameplans, and he was even motivating his players! Just making so many good decisions.

Now he pulls a 'lets give up'? Even though he has Wade on his team? Woah.

Pat's the hall of famer, but giving up down 7 with 1:30 seems too stupid to be anything but a mind game.
I am going to try and ignore those 1st 5 words Insomniacal Fan, because the rest of the sentence made a possible good point...
Mind game?

But couldn't that backfire?

Heh, honestly, I didn't realize he wasn't in there already. Its just that I hate when people use the 'he is a HOFer' arguement. Makes my blood boil like little else ;)

I think the truth is that the Heat were just half a step behind for most of the game. Riley's smart enough to see that. He didn't want to risk an injury to Wade. They're still up 3-2, and they're heading home to Miami for another possible elimination game.

I think he did the classic "retreat to fight another day." I don't know if I agree with it, but I can certainly understand it.

The one thing that I did not like last night was the Hack-A-McDyess, just because Ben wasn't in there. Granted I think it only happned once, but come on???? I can understand Ben but it's bad form to just go to the next worst free throw shooter if Ben is not in. I have never liked Riley though so there you go.

It's not over yet. The Pistons are a good road team and if The Pistons are back playing Piston basketball, the Heat will have to come up big tomorrow.

Go PISTONS!!!
