I am rooting for Denver in this one, but I couldn't care less who wins. Horry stepped on someones face. I dislike that man. That said, spurs in 5.

edit:: thanks Mods!

And? Somebody stepped on Horry's face in the first half; it might have actually been Duncan.

Also, **** the Nuggets; I was actually pro-Denver before that trade, but I don't like Iverson, so I'm rooting for the Spurs. Actually, I think it'd be hilarious if the Spurs came out of the west, what with all the hype that's been on Dallas and Phoenix.

edit:: alright i typed full title that said [DEN/SAS] "Birds chirping" but it didn't work.
You must have somehow typed something wrong...

Nene is awesome. That's all I'm seeing in this game. Remember when we thought we almost had him for Cuttino Mobley? Those were the days.

I also remember a vocal minority saying that he was a bust and whatnot.

And, since I'm being contrary today, I'd just like to state that I personally like the Collector (Evans' nickname in Seattle).

I would be equally happy seeing the Dallas fail to advance as to seeing the Lakers out.

All in all.... if I may quote VF: Just die!! Lakers scum!!!

by the way, I like your avatar, Slim.

And man, the Spurs look OLD. This is a bad matchup for them, but imagine if they have to play Phoenix. They're going to get blown off the floor.

If at all possible, I would like both teams to lose in this matchup. Since that's not possible, I go back to my old stand - I do NOT root for teams from Texas. Period.

I remember those days as well and I wondered about it back then.

But what made you dislike Iverson all the sudden ? I was never a fan of his but I thought that today's game was probably the most under control game that I have ever seen him play.

That deal wouldn't even have been close contractually! Check out Nene's contract.

At the time of the trade, Nene had not yet been signed to that deal I think. In any case, other pieces would have been involved. And at this point, as some of us have predicted, Nene is not too far off having earned that contract. He, again as projected, went about 14 and 8 as a starter, got better as the year went along, and the future is bright.

Since this is only one game, I'm not going to get too excited, but I'm pretty happy for the Nuggets for stealing game 1 on the Spurs home floor.

It's true that everyone has been praising Dallas and Phoenix, but after the All Star break plenty of national media members have also pointed out how well the Spurs have been playing. I'd love to see them lose this first round (even though I don't expect them to lose more than 1 more game to Denver) --- extended playoff exposure without Duncan or Joey Crawford would be very nice, imho.

I dont like Denver, but I hate the Spurs like I hate child molesters, i would do anything to see them fall in the first round.

What was that for?

Personally, I hate Spurs (though presumably less than NikateeN) and like Kleiza so I'm rooting for the Nugs... but don't have too much hope for them.

I thought Denver had a chance though and a lot of people would/did disagree. But they have a ton of fire power. AI and Carmello are both guys who can drop 30 on any night, so I don't see why people are so surprised it happened/saying it can't happen again. Not to mention Denver only scored 95, even if AI and Melo don't score 60 combined again their TEAM can easily score more than 95. The Nuggets have a ton of athleticism, ball handling, and their shooting is a lot better than it was when the Spurs beat them in 5. Nene is better now than when they played in the POs two years ago. Nene/Camby/Evans is a very tough frontcourt. They have athleticism, they have rebounding, they block shots, they play man to man D. Nene can also score in the post and he's a tough match up for Duncan. Camby is a great shotblocker/rebounder and everyone knows that, he is way better than SA's other frontcourt player(either Oberto or Horry). He can provide help on Parker/Ginobili whenever they get past AI/Blake/Melo. Bowen's older and not the defensive pest he was 2 years ago, Melo's a better player now than he used to be. I'm not so sure why everyone's surprised Denver took game one, I can see either team winning this series and maybe see it going 7 games. But I hope Denver wins in 6.

as much as i hate the spurs... i hate carmelo with a passion... i don't want him to get psat the first round...

GO SPURS!

Yeah, but I don't remember him playing like that in the regular season at all. Usually he disappears. I guess the playoffs do that to some players.
