Demarcus rips Blake Griffin

Entity,
You are on dangerous ground with a statement like that. Players need to respect the game. You are maybe too young to remember Rudy Tanjanovic (sp?). Men the size of Cousins and Griffin could literally kill each other walking into a serious punch. There is an unwritten code of ethics in basketball. It is subtle and hard to explain. I was an under-sized center in high school and grew up playing black kids for money. I learned a lot about life in those situations. I think Cousins knows all about that stuff. Griffin may need some schooling.

Every once in a while some gym rat with an attitude would show up in good pick-up games. Guys who would grab your jersey when you went buy, throw a hip, and put the ball on the ground after a made basket. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I learned to stop the game, and ask these clown type players if that is how they really wanted to play. They would usually say something like "That is just how I play" That was an open invitation to go back to the playground of race inspired play for money. I learned from the best how to play dirty. I would start by forgetting about offense for awhile and get in the guys shorts. I would be within 2-3 feet of him on a fast break, and have contact most of the time, even during a time out.. I would rebound like it was a football game. Most of these guys would disappear after 10 minutes. They would still be there, but mentally tweaked. Then I could start talking to them. Then I would drive on them hoping for some contact so I could go right throught them. There were a few guys with talent that were really tough to beat. Most of them were mentally defeated even if they had more physical skills. Guys with attitude need to be careful what they ask for. I would love to hear some stories from anyone who knows what the hell l am talking about here.

Cuz does his fair share of acting at times too tbh - but the respect Blake gets from the refs is just ridiculous and frustrating to watch,

I mean in the game around the 1st quarter, right before Big-Cuz took that rebound and finished at the rim - Blake literally just put his hand into Demarcus's face and shoved him straight to the floor under the refs eye.

How the fvck is that not called as a foul, yet the no-call swipe with 1 minute to go in the game is?

id like to see cousiuns fight with Blake. i think its exposure for the kings. negative as it may be it will sell more tickets and kind of give us a bad boy image especially if a few others join in the malay.

I don't want him to fight him. Just bang him repeatedly with that big body of his. When Blake goes up for a rebound box out and bump his legs. Just punish him with constantly putting his body on him and bumping his legs. Of course it would help to not get two silly fouls in the game so he's not sitting on the bench. But maybe in this game he can use up those fouls on serious banging instead. Same thing goes for Thompson. He's been following Cousins MO with some silly fouls of late. How 'bout getting physical underneath the boards rather than get the easy to call fouls like swiping for the ball or an obvious push off. The idea is to get the other team pissed off because of your physical play, not the other way around.

I am pretty sure that Blake is going to try his hardest to have a new contender for dunk of the season tomorrow night, with Cousins the benefactor. And I'm pretty sure there is a good chance of it happening. DeMarcus needs to be careful here, the officials are not going to favour him over Blake, regardless of whether he's right or wrong.

A dunk is only a dunk. The last time Demarcus called someone out (the Jazz), he went on to single-handedly beat them down the stretch the next time he played them.

I know what you're saying, I deal with that at the park around here in Phoenix. So they play all physical to intimidate and we play physical right back and all of a sudden they dont like it too much. Sounds like CP3 and BG32

I know exactly what you're talking about. There is a ton of physical contact that you can do out there that won't be a foul. I know of a guy who was only 6'4" tall and played center in some serious pick up games around Sacto. Built like a block. Not all that athletic. Not a jumper. By the end of the game he'd banged guys into the ground. It was like going 15 rounds with a heavyweight. The high jumpers wouldn't be jumping anymore because their legs were gone from so much banging, and a few blind screens here and there and pretty soon guys didn't feel like playing basketball any longer. It all comes down to whether you're really serious and take the game personally or not. If you do, then you're going to make the game very uncomfortable for the other side. Even if you lose they still won't want to play you. Hopefully, the Kings can start doing more of that.

That wasn't a guy playing in pick-up games, that was Chuck Hayes

Or it was the phantom foul that was called when IT air balled a layup.

I'm not saying kill him or another palace adventure. I am almost 40 so age obviously isn't the issue. Sometimes an altercation brings a team together. It would be telling to me to tyreke be right by cuz side ready to throw blows. You get into an altercation amongst aquantences you find out who has your back that goes a long way in relationships. Some of you may think I'm wrong but I know I'm not

You don't throw blows on the court in an NBA game. Ask Metta World Peace if you don't believe me. Period.

Except he didn't throw blows on the court. That was in the stands with fans. That example has nothing to do with what I'm talking about.

Blake Griffin is just a far superior player right now, and let his play do the talking as Demarcus looked downright awful in two games head-to-head. Actor? Who leads the league in flopping (taking charges)? Demarcus just doesn't have a consistent enough game right now to be talking smack to anyone..

Get out of here with that trash. Far superior? What a terrible evaluation.

Look man, I'm a Kings fan and I am not trying to stir the pot, but if Petrie called up the Clippers GM and proposed a trade between the two the Clippers GM would ask for Tyreke and our first and that might not get it done. Demarcus shoots a bad %, doesn't run the floor (bad conditioned) and puts an inconsistent effort on D.. Blake right now is what we want Demarcus to be, a consistent, rock of a franchise player

Blake has virtually zero post game, has shown a very slow learning curve (success mostly related to athletic gifts), can barely shoot a jumper (Demarcus far superior), is scary bad on FTs (major liability in close playoff games), and has had star treatment from the refs since day one (exact opposite than DMC), not a very good passer/court vision guy, and below average on defense (I give DMC the edge here, barely--keep in mind they don't guard the same position).

Not in a million years would I trade DMC for Griffin. And there's no way they even take Reke AND our number one for Griffin. Not even close. But, he's actually not the frachise player there. Paul is. You can't build around a guy who's that one dimensional. Only reason he was considered a "star" in his rookie year is because of highlight reel dunks which sell tickets. He is a "star" in that sense. He's just not a basketball star. He's a good player, a good rebounder, but a very incomplete player. He got scoring numbers last year as the number one option on a crappy team. Without Paul he's still a classic one dimensional number one option on a crappy team (Michael Redd/Kevin Martin of dunks). He is however the franchise ticket seller, just not the franchise player.

And he is an actor. He was cast in a scripted reality show called the Dunk Contest. I'm so glad I don't have to root for a guy like that. You lose a bit of self respect when you do. MUCH better to root for a guy like DMC.

Blake will get DESTROYED in the playoffs against good team defense in a half court game. I can't wait.

Well so would any of our players at the moment. The upside for the guy is there, he can handle the ball as well and I disagree on the part about his ability to hit a jumper. He's going to improve, just like Cousins. I don't think Blake is a bad player, he's very gifted and I don't doubt that. I'm just not happy about the "star" treatment he gets due to the league's preference for highlight dunks than proper calls.

Blake is not the type of player we want Cousins to be. They have completely different styles of play. You did get the part about us needing him to be consistant right, though.

If you are not trying to stir the pot don't post ridiculous statements. Do you even watch the Kings? To say Cousins leads the league in flops is just stupid. He is good at drawing charges, and it has little to do with flopping. He doesn't have a consistent enough game to talk trash to anyone? He is already one of THE BEST centers in the league in his second year. Just a guess, but I think there are plenty of people he has burned and earned that right.

Oh, and here are the stats of two players, one is FAR superior to the other

Player 1:
FG %: .544
FT %: .526
OFFR: 3.2
DEFR: 7.8
REBS: 11.0
APG: 3.0
SPG: .8
BPG: .7
TO: 2.3
PPG: 20.8

Player 2:
FG %: .445
FT %: .724
OFFR: 4.3
DEFR: 6.8
REBS: 11.1
APG: 1.6
SPG: 1.3
BPG: 1.3
TO: 2.8
PPG: 17.9

Yup. Ignorant post is ignorat. BTW lol at taking charges=acting. It's a good defensive play. Blake flails and then mean mugs people all the time.

Seriously. Taken a charge is the exact opposite of "acting". One you pretend like you get hit, the other you get run over and put on your *** by another 250 pound athlete.

The funny part is how he averages more blocks and steals than griffin, plus takes more charges, but is supposedly a real inferior player. Yeah right, lol. Cousins is already a better defender than Blake.

Blake is a great talent, no ones disputing that, but his "talent level" has been blown out of all proportion by a few flashy dunks and lame analysts going "ohhhhhhhhh" over highlights.

I listen to the nba today podcast and they say exactly what you just said that he isnt really that good and the nba are protecting him much

Again, he IS good. He's just not anywhere near the Dirk Nowitzki, Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett level despite receiving equal or more attention.

are you drunk

Exactly what i meant, don't get me wrong i do think he's a fantastic player, definitely a high level talent... but the attention he has garnered is all down to his dunks...

And this "lob city" nonsense gets on my nerves too.

I put out an invitation earlier for people to share their experiences with physical bball. Thanks to the 2 of you that responded. Maybe creditility on these forums has to be earned over time, but I suspect most of the pontificators on forums like this have little real experience with physical play. It helps explain the nature of a lot of the discussion. It is obvious to me that the refs really let the game get out of hand last Th. Sat nite was much better. The better team won. They ended the discussion with 2 wins and let the scoreboard do the talking. I didn't see any acting, whining or butthead attitude on Sat. That says a lot about the Clippers. Griffin will see some flagrant fouls eventually, but he is on notice thanks to Cousins.
I still say Entity is way off, especially for someone who is not 19 anymore and should know better.

I hope the day comes that we all can reach your level of knowledge. Meanwhile I hope you tolerate us.
