And apparently you need to put on your reading glasses, since I specifically said the word talent. You know what? Cousins was probably better than ANY of them at age 20. But how is that relevant. Its about having the talent to be great enough to lead a franchise. Two names on that list did. Deron almost did, but I always thoguht he was a tad overrated when he was getting compared to CP3, and he may already be either getting exposed or be in decline. The others were not special talents (well Kirilenko was in his own way, but its a special roleplayer way, not a team carrying star way). Very good players, not ones you can mount a franchise on.
You've had 2. They carried the franchise. Made it. We've had Deron Williamses (Richmond), Jefferson, Boozers, Kirilenkos too -- we called them Peja, KMart, Bibby, possibly even the nutter Artest, maybe Otis Thorpe in the early days. They aren't enough.
You get a Cousins level talent, you hang on for dear life, realized or unrealized, talents at that level attached to bodies of that size come around so damn rarely. If you're not the Lakers able to go shopping for everybody else's, you can sit aroudn for a decade hoping to get lucky on one in the draft. Its already been 6 years of that here. We don't have another decade to wait.

We have never had problems with fans of other teams coming here and posting, provided they show respect and follow the rules. You may not agree with what Npliam says and his viewpoint is certainly different than ours on a lot of topics, but that doesn't make him persona non gratis. We've had long-time members who are Laker fans, so we should certainly be able to tolerate a Jazz fan or two.
Thank you. I try to be respectful. I know I am a guest and try to conduct myself accordingly. I try to only bring up the Jazz as a reference point for discussion of the Kings.

ill take the obvious one. while they are not the same player, I think Cwebb and Demarcus are in the same tier of talent.

As I said in my post following, I think there is a place to again bring up Cousin's weaknesses but this didn't feel like it. Honestly every post somehow turns into the same few people bringing up the same arguments about Cousins. But no problem.
I fully understand what you're saying (I hate when the "any questions" threads get hijacked) but I gave up trying to keep things on topic a long time ago. I'm just glad to see people back talking about things. This place had gotten to be pretty lifeless. It's good to see old posters returning, so I can settle for repetitive arguments.

Tonight is EXACTLY what Cousins needs to do. He still forced a few shots, but he looked to get his teammates involved and paid off big time for us. Every superstar in the NBA finds a way to be the best player on the floor or dominate some other aspect of the game when there offense is off. Cousins did that tonight by finding open shooters and working his tail off on the boards

One thing with Cousins this year he actually has improved in thats gone un-noticed is his free throw shooting hes basically at 78% and when hes at the line its very pure, which brings me to my next point maybe when hes shooting mid range shots he should take more from roughly the free throw a couple of the shots tonight he took he was open but imo were to deep for him at this point of his career.

Much like Reke and his shooting if Cousins regularly passes and we are hitting it will make the defense afraid to double him opening up the inside and making everything easier(or leaving open shooters outside).
His passing was what I was most excited about his rookie year he could be a threat to get 10 assists on any given night it we practiced and ran it and I am fine with turnovers from those passes till he learns to do it right. Again would have preferred him working on it the last two years but maybe a triple double will get him excited about assists.

Was thinking the same thing late in this oen. It was garbagetimey by the end, but I wanted him to get the milestone to cement it in his head as a goal. Think the kid can do almost anything he puts his mind to, but you have to get his attention.

There is a reason I was jumping like a little kid when he was still on the board at #5 and went crazy when we picked him. Look everyone knew there was going to be growing pains with this young man but it's worth it for a talent like cuz. Late last night I was yelling at the tv "having fun yet cuz" because it's games these that can be a turning point in his maturation process.
Not only is Cousins a great talent, but his moodiness and attitude have a great affect on the team. The Kings looked inspired last night, but they have sleep-walked thru many games this season. Sometimes they just go thru the motions. Getting Cousins squared away emotionally is one of the keys to winning.
I liked the description of R Griffin III after the Redskins game. He is now the rookie captain of his team. He is the first guy at practice and the last to leave. He is the first guy on the bus and the team's greatest cheerleader. Cousins probably has the role of leader on his team, but has been reluctant to take on the responsibility.

No, I don't think he does nor has anybody really expected that of him. Right now, he's not a leader. Not sure if he has that kind of makeup. The Kings don't really have anybody as a leader to be honest. It's one of their bigger problems.
He might be but he hasn't shown that on the court. C-webb was a much better player than Cousins at this stage of their careers.

Yes he was and CWebb's issues were completely different than DMC's. Not nearly as severe IMO.

C-Webb had actual run-ins with the law and was accused of raping a woman. Say what you want about Demarcus's mental state but he's never done anything like that (although a picture of his "Little Big Cuz" did wind up on the internet).
Same here and was ALL-OUT for his development on that area. I really thought he could have gotten it right and soon enough. He already showed he could do it and it seemed he was a fast learner. But Petrie did not have an active plan for that to happen and coaches messed-up. He got encouraged and was given the green-light for things he was not supposed to be doing (3-point shots).
It could have been very exciting already seeing the return of a bigger CWebb in our team.
Sigh. If only we have a pro-active GM who has a vision and who could have been on top of things before they get messed-up - Cousins and Evans could have gone a long way already.
