Demarcus F Cousins

We will trade you Derrick Favors for Demarcus Cousins.....
Uhh...will you throw in Hayward and Exum too? You guys don't need Exum... you have Burke... Honest question, are you disappointed by Burke's play so far into the season? Do you think Exum will eventually take over as starter this year? He'd receive a lot of help from Hayward and Burks in terms of handling the ball and taking pressure off of him too.

If Cousins plays like this he's an All-Star. We all know what he can do, but it's what he did not do that was noteworthy: We didn't see him go off on a ref, have altercation with a player, sulk, get stupid fouls, play point guard, or get mentally out of sync like we've seen in a zillion other games. He played 34 minutes, played smart, and played with mental focus - like a winner. Just keep on keepin' on. God, I hope the infant Cousins has forever beem banished from the crib and we never see that youngin' ever again.

^ It'll be hell on the rest of the NBA once they realize they can't get under his skin. The cheap crap will stop and they'll actually have to try to create a legitimate plan to stop him. Then, I feel, players will get even better open looks.

Whether they hit them or not is another issue.

How about Derrick Williams?

#2 pick for #2 pick?

Derrick for Derrick?

You guys lose nothing in the deal and gain a "stretch 4", which as the great and wise Jerry Reynolds will tell you is how the league is trending.

It's even better for Jazz, since Favors was actually only a third pick, so it should be a no-brainer...:p

I am going to have to think long and hard about this. I mean we get a #2 pick for a #3 pick and they are both named Derrick so.....there is that.

Uh no on Hayward or Exum.

I am a little disapointed that he hasn't shot the ball better so far. He shot it really well in pre season and I was hoping that would carry over. It still might but he needs to be able to get the line more consistently. I hope Exum takes over as the starter but I don't see that happening this year.

i'm not sure if there is a player in the league that means more to his team than Cousins. Take LBJ off the Cavs, that team can still compete and win, take Durant off the Thunder, they can still win, take Cousins off the Kings and it's a train wreck.

And the winner of tonight's "Most obvious comment" award goes to...

Another bad game from Burke again. I think Exum will eventually take Burke's spot.

Previous years when speaking about Cousins to became one of, let's say, five best players in NBA (which he certainly has talent and physical qualities to be) instead of just star of his team there were two changes to be done.
One is internal and it's not about improving his play but about changing attitude - reducing number of techical fauls, limiting fauls per game, staying focused... And for now it seems that he made serious progress in those areas.
But there's also external change which can help, as even superhero/superstar need support cast... and it was not good: as much as I see there were no players which wanted to make entry pass and were capable of doing it...
Now score-first PG (?) Thomas is replaced with Collison which is much more balanced and hopefully really PG - the situation should improve... Also I personally hope that Omri Casspi will help - when last season started he tried to make passes for Dwight in paint but it wasn't the way McHale envisioned role of strech-4, so he stopped (and anyway actually Dwight is not that good in post as he thinks...)

i wouldnt trade demarcus for that package. Just saying

I'd consider trading Boogie for Anthony Davis. But even that would require a sweetener to make me bite the bullet.

Quite right. Really the only player that impresesses me at that level. I wouldn't take Bron, Melo, Bosh or even Durant. However, Anthony Davis is very injury prone while Boogie seems to be made of steel.

Thing is if they are similar on talent level, tie goes to the home team, because there is huge value now in DMC's leadership skills and status among the team. We're no longer playing mix n match with players. We have a cohesive team. It would be like the Giants trading Buster Posey. There is nobody in baseball the Giants trade Posey for. Nobody. We and DMC have made that step as a team. And, not only is the value in the relationships between teammates, but also with the fans. You would severely damage your fan relations by swapping DMC for AD. Fans here have grown to love DMC, and when the wins finally start coming, it'll mean more to the fans as a result. That can and will be monetized.

With the only issue that to be considered a stretch 4 a player actually has to be able to hit a shot.

DMC is a team player like Timmy Duncan. That's why it works. I don't know what Rudy's plans are for next season, but in my opinion the kings do not need more than two max level players. The rest have to be role players. Otherwise the team concept starts to deteriorate.

I don't know about Favors anymore... Utah put Enes Kanter on Blake Griffin...I thought Favors was supposed to be this dominant defender..

Favors has been pretty dang good so far this season.
Any reason why they did not put him on Blake Griffin then? It's not like DeAndre Jordan is a legit scoring threat.. Favors is there for his defense, but it looks like he can't guard guys who are quicker than him..
