Dear Sacto: You blew it

This article sums up how I felt right after the trade...I feel a little better now, hopefully I will eventually like the trade.

No point in hiding my feelings now, same here.

Agreed. I still don't think it was the right move, for many of the reasons the article mentioned.

As a fan-rant, that was a good article. Still, I was looking for a P.S. or "By the way,..." where as a Wizards fan he should thank Sacto for providing a template (princeton offense) that really made difference to the Wizards play this year.

I think we'll be fine. Peja, Bibby, Miller and a strong supporting cast are light years ahead of what Howard, Strickland and Richmond were in '97. So basically, this was a stupid article.

I agree. I still love the Kings, and hope it works out well, but I don't think it was the right trade at the right time. still makes me sad though. One point I really agreed with in the article is that I never was convinced that our window with the (old) Kings had closed. I was really hoping for one last run. But, we will move on & go from here. The one point I really disagreed with was acting like it will take 7 years for us to be good again. We are fortunate that we were able to lose a great player, a key player, and still be a great team looking forward to the playoffs.

Webb will never be the same on the Sixers. Philly won't make the playoffs this year, and the Kings will. And next year, Billy King will realize he is paying a creaky-kneed 33-year-old $65 million up until he's 35.

Webber will still be good, but he won't be better next year, or the year after that. And neither will Iverson. And by the time Webber's contract is up, Iverson will be 32 (and making $20 million a year until he's 34). And how much longer will Webber's knee hold out and Iverson's body continue to take beatings?

Billy King paid an expensive price for 3 years of mediocrity.

Yeah, well, Webb clearly wasn't mediocre on the Kings. If he's mediocre on the 76ers then maybe they should look at the coach and the system that is causing that. Keep in mind that Corliss, Thomas and Skinner were essentially "nothing" in Philly. O'Brien obviously isn't good at bringing out the best in his players.

i definitely agree.

Kings are not Wizards. It is that simple. Fact is that every player who left Sacramento misses it more that he is being missed. Kings will be OK and even better than OK with the time.

The point is that the Kings used to be the Wizards we saw for the last seven years. I don't think we'll go back there, but it is not out of the realm of possibilities.

If there is a chance the Kings revert to one of those past Wizards teams, it is the slimmest of chances. We are a very young team... I think we are pretty damn good now, and we will only get better with time/practice.

Bibby-26
Peja-27
Darius-27
Thomas-27
Brad-28
Mobley-29

Without a superstar you just never know in the NBA.

With one, you never know either, so what's your point?

T-mac's Magic, Carter's Raptors, Kidd's/Carter's Nets and soon to be AI/Webb's Philadelphia... Webb was not the only one who made it work here in Sacramento. As a matter of fact, the reason the Kings are an elite basketball team year after year is because of their system, and that system is not about to change. Even without Webber, the Kings will remain among the NBA's elite.

I really hope you right.
